There is a 6" Morgan Chicago model 360 vise for sale locally to me for $300. The 360 model has the swiveling rear jaw and swivel base. I would have bought it immediately, but the price is a little steep, I'm currently trying to negotiate with the seller. This vise is seemingly rare, I can only find one other picture of one online. The thing that seems most unusual about this vise is the brand identification. It isn't cast into the body of the vise like every other Morgan vise I've seen, it stamped on to a tag that is riveted on. Has anyone ever seen another Morgan vise like this? Is the $300 price too steep do you think?

I think the price is fair for a large USA made vice. The stand is very nice also.

If the guy drops his price at all he is a nice guy.

Morgan likely contracted the swivel jaw vise out to someone else, Prentiss maybe? If that vise is as nice as it appears in the pics, $300 for a 6" swivel jaw/swivel base on that stand seems pretty reasonable to me. Of course we'd all like to buy it cheaper....:)

The listing on the ad only featured the first two pictures I posted. While I was waiting for a response from the seller (who hadn't mentioned the vise manufacturer in the ad) I was trying to id the vise. Morgan was the first match I found, next I found American Scale to be almost exactly the same. The kicker to me that confirmed it was a Morgan was that the American Scale vises all had the model numbers cast in to the side of the vise that was visible in the pictures the seller had shown in the ad. Of course you must be right, that American Scale manufactured this vise for Morgan, the tag is in the same spot the American Scale logo would be cast. Thank you, I love the history of tools!

It's interesting, American Scale also private labeled some of this same vise for Wilton. A couple members here have those.

I'm not familiar with Morgan swivel jaws, but the pointy mounting feet gave it away (to me) as an American Scale.

Yes, this thread for the Wilton 606 also came up in my search. https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=253568

I wonder, did Morgan make their own smaller swivel jaws https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?p=7943392#post7943392
or were they able to get AS to cast them with their name?

Your 335 came up while I was researching as well, what a beautiful vise you have! That is an interesting point, I wish there were more pictures of 360's to compare to and see if in fact they did cast the Morgan name into them at some point. As I'm sure you know, you can still order a brand new Morgan Milwaukee 360 to this day, perhaps they took over manufacturing them long ago. http://www.milwtool.com/v_swiv.htm

I brought it home the other night, it's awesome! Even larger in person than I was expecting.
