I've bidded on a few auctions before, but they just go for too much money for what they are, even without the more venerable name on it.

I personally wouldn't pay those asking prices.

I thought a buy it now for $50 shipped was a modest price for an 8 piece set. Snap-on charged somewhere near $100 for an identical set back when they did offered the hard handles.

good thing I didn't bid yet...

You can't bid, its a buy it now auction :)

I know but I haven't bought yet, but will later, I think the 80 for the 3 ratchet screwdrivers is a deal as I paid 50 for one red one from snap on, they sure bent me over on that one.

those look pretty good. I'm getting tired of waiting for a set of snappy hard handles to come along that don't cost an arm and a leg. I'm thinking I'll be buying a set of these in flat and phillips....thanks for the link.

Leave off the ego label and pricing and they do not sell or are wanted the fools rather pay a fortune for disposable tools in the first place.

Does anyone have these screwdrivers? My only concern is that the handle feels like cheaper plastic. Any reviews would be great.

^^^someone did a side by side review of these months back.

I'd have picked up a set if I could've at the time, but they were difficult to order and I couldn't get a hold of the guys who owned the website that were selling them.

I ended up getting quite a few of the black handles used, and the rest off the truck from remaining stock (and at the old prices :) )

PS. If you've got an understanding Snappy dealer, I bet he'd put replacement blades in these handles when you needed them.

So if they are the "same" how come they don't offer the same sizes together as the snap on sets. It would seem to make sense if they want to sell lots of them.

(I was only looking for a duplicate of the 8 piece set, they may have matched other sets)

This gets more weird. Yesterday morning I ordered one of the green handled screwdrivers and it was before I read this thread. I thought for $29.65 it was a pretty good deal. That's at least $10 less than the used SOs are selling for. I bought it and the Pay Pal charges and my credit card were charged as advertised $29.65. All of the records on My Ebay show it at $33.65.
I'm looking forward to getting it, it looks like an SO but something went haywire in the process.

I have to admit - I like these screwdrivers, but I am remiss that there is ONE pic. I don't know if I want to buy them without handling them somewhere first... the price certainly is right (that's about double a cman set, I figure), but so much better than SO sets.

I ordered a set of the phillips and a set of slotted a few days ago. He told me they were out of stock on the phillips sets until the end of the month, yet they are still listed on ebay. Just a heads up, if you buy those, you won't see them for a while.

I received a package today from the Ebay vendor, only to find one screwdriver in it. Keith from Industrial Supply Company informed me before he sent the items out, that one of the electrician's screwdriver was on back order (SDE-46) I shot Keith another email asking the where-abouts of the other 4 screwdrivers, and was told that the rest were shipped from a different location, and supplied the missing tracking number.

Here are some pics I snapped of the single screwdriver I have at the moment...

I ordered the 5 piece combo set before his prices jumped. They came well packed from the factory in Midland, GA. They are just like my older Snap on screwdrivers. Same weight, balance, feel and texture. The Williams set came in a plastic pouch instead of a tray. They are stamped USA on the handle. I'm not a fan of black screwdrivers but, these seem ok. If you hate every other screwdriver except the older Snap on hard handled drivers, this may be a suitable substitute for you that is alot cheaper until something else comes along.

My concern has been with Williams outsourcing tool production to asia it makes me wonder if these screwdrivers are north american production and the same quality the Snappy's were.Without being able to hold one in my hand first I doubt I'll be sending any money.

I've posted this picture before in another thread--it compares the SO and J.H. Williams handle:

So, with these being identical to the old SO pieces, why would anyone still hope for a return of the SOs? Just buy the Williams, right?

I guess for the few that they offer. I personally would like the longer cabinet style, and the high torque square shank flat tip's...

They are labeled "USA" on the handles :).

Yeah, but I also have some Irwin Vise Grips labelled USA that are imports.Once they start importing things my trust level starts dropping.Once burned twice shy. They could be making the handles in the usa and have shanks from china. My trust for all the other manufacturers importing stuff is the same way,I like to hold it in my hands to judge quality before I risk my cash.

I did a comparison posted on GJ of the williams and snap-on, my williams set is holding up just as well as my Snap-on set. The majority of my tools are Snap on, really surprised by the quality of the williams, the handles and tips are very high quality.

When you purchase from your snap on dealer, your buying service and that is the last time your going to purchase that again unless you loose it or they put a goofy handle on the replacement. Hopefully the snap on quality will always remain the same. Snap on should bring this style back for screwdrivers, torx and ratchet handles. How are you going to warranty a Williams. Mailing it back is not as easy or as fun as a Snap on truck visit.

It seems like this style is going away, so what do you have to loose by getting the williams. Buy them before they are gone, it is very possible Williams will drop this handle in the future and they are selling off the inventory of this style. The majority of the williams screwdrivers have soft grips, very similar to the blue point series and they are both imports.
