Snap-On 1/2" Drive Deep Industrial Finish 6-Point Sockets

Hi,

EDIT: Correcting to say these are known as "Power Sockets".

Have an 11 piece set of Snap-On 1/2" drive deep industrial finish 6-point flank-drive Power Sockets for sale. Sizes are 3/8" to 1". What appears to be impact use, may be from torque wrench use over time?? All are still useable, I tried the larger sizes on an old Plomb 1/2" drive ratchet, and they all fit well. I don't think the 3/8" and 7/16" sockets have ever been used.

Tough set to price. Used, but not used up. Some of you may have more lenient dealer than others concerning replacement terms. I believe they are worth significantly more than similar Craftsman 6-point deep sockets. Gotta start somewhere................

They sure look like impact sockets? Looked them up in a old SO catalog and sure enough they are (NOT IMPACT SOCKETS). They are called Power Sockets, start with a SP#. No idea what they are used for, maybe assembly line work. :headscrat

+2, probably used on assembly line on large nut-runners (non-impact tools) where they required large torque lbs. The nutrunners put a lot of twist on the drive mechanism, but no impacting!! :shocking:

That would make sense. I thought the wear pattern of the drive end was a little different from chrome sockets I'd seen used on air impacts. The rounding/ mushroom-ing of these is at the lip edge, as opposed to the lip and deeper into the socket.

thats 2x what the cman ones cost new, you werent kidding about significantly more. seems like a lot of money for abused sockets

I still do not see how those would not be classed as an impact type of socket, regardless the name they call them. They sure look impact to me.

The bad part is, if they are worthless as an impact, and beefier than a regular chrome socket, the bastards actually are kind of a mixed breed loved by no one!

Given the testimony in the thread, I believe used sockets is more accurate, and stand by my used but not used up statement.

I also find fault with the 2x Craftsman new cost, Craftsman of course being inferior in quality (set has 2 sockets less than what I am offering):

I don't want to get into a cman vs the world debate, but id rather have some new cman ones anyday. ONLY because I know i could get them warranted if needed. These its a toss up, the truck guy might say nope, you're at fault cause they were impacted.

After all, this is my classified ad..........not someone else's.

Old Plomb stuff, or 1/4" or 3/8" ratchets not in the collection could be used as currency.

It's not a bad price. According to an old Snap-On price sheet that I have (from 2002), this set went for about $215-$220 new. I coulldn't find the entire set listed, so that's just an estimate.

The way Snap-On prices go up every year or two, I guess it would be about $250-$275 in today's dollars?
