Made is USA. $75 for 16-pc set. I know not everyone is a fan of Tekton but you have to respect the fact they regularly bring new product to the market, and, on appearance, do their best to have that product made in the USA.

Black oxide blades are coming for only $60.

Sort of reminiscent of the old Mac hard handles. I’m not a fan of the current Tekton screwdrivers (handled them at Meijer), but these look like they would be comfortable. I may have to give them a try... Made in USA to boot. I like it.

I actually like their soft handled screwdrivers. This gives those who don't like the soft handled ones another option. It's always exciting to see Tekton roll out USA made tools.

I can see a set of these in my tool box in the near future.

These also look like a reasonably priced source of donor handles for ratchets, etc.

Does this mean an end to the [emoji89] phallus tri lobed handles? Though they look goofy, you can get some cranking torque with them.

Whatever you do, stay away from that black oxide set - it might have already rusted by the time you receive the package.

Nice looking handle profile for sure. And the off-coral red will help you find them in a greasy pile o stuff on the work bench.

Kudos to Tekton. I sure like seeing them making domestic tools readily available.

I wonder if the steel is better. I think Tekton is a solid value but I replaced the phillips in my set pretty quick, they juat wore out too fast for my liking. Wera is my current go to for phillips screwdrivers.

Kind of surprised that there are no Torx drivers but the sets that are out look promising.

I have a few Tekton tools. They have served me well. When I am in need of more screwdrivers, I may give them a try, Good to see production coming to the USA

I honestly feel like Tekton is a sleeper tool company. Especially with all the Icon tool talk. Most people either don't know about Tekton or don't give them credit. They make great tools at great prices and a good majority are USA made. I wish more stores would carry them.

Tekton is widely available at both Meijer stores near me. Other than a few USA made tools like their screwdrivers and pliers, what makes the quality of their Asian made tools (wrenches, sockets, ratchets) any better than another brand?

Unfortunately for me I have no stores near me that carry it. I never said they were any better than another brand. I just feel that they sometimes don't get the credit they deserve for bringing a quality USA made tool at a quality price to the market.

I hope the color is a darker red in person like their logo colors. Looks too much like a coral color. Petty? Yes, but that color I cant get past.

Meh. I think they did it right. They can add specialty screwdrivers later.

I wouldn't want bolsters and striking caps on ALL screwdrivers since they change the balance and weight. I want a few. But I want most without.

I wonder if this replaces their black oxide, U.S. of A. drivers in the current lineup. I was about to order a set of their Torx drivers.

EDIT: Their website shows both but apparently no Torx yet in the hard handles.

I think the soft grips will be around for a while, they cover more styles and have a following of their own.

I know you didn’t say that, I was just wondering if you (or anyone else) knew. I’m curious what sets their tools apart from other similar brands? Better quality metal? The designs?

Their tools are consistently good-to-excellent and they're continually improving. Combining that with reasonable prices and top notch customer service has earned them a loyal following.

The size range of the tools (sockets\wrenches) as well as the ease of access\warranty are also advantages over even some of the bigger import brands. Previous to the latest generation of (sockets, ratchets, wrenches), the tools really were the same as the typical import offerings. However, the latest designs (sockets, ratchets, wrenches) appear to be built more specifically for Tekton. Can't comment on the metallurgy except to say I haven't had a issue and the chrome has held up. Additionally the 90T ratchets have been great both with and without the quick release.

add to it a quite well done website---clear, lots of specific info, easy to navigate.

Overall a pretty compelling package. Not easy to do either, how many of their competition are getting it right in so many areas simultaneously---pricing, cust service, new products, marketing, quality, etc.

Would be interesting to see market share numbers for them...

There's a note at the bottom of the product page saying, "Torx and Square drivers coming soon in early 2020."

Plus, if Tekton was more widely available in home stores it would be the new C'man, more than the current C'man is, IMO.

If I could get Tekton in the northeast I wouldn't be shopping at HF most of the time.

The few Tekton tools I've got are definitely well worth the money, and if I could physically handle them in stores I'd be all over it.

You can order online from Walmart with free pickup and check them over when you pick them up. If you don't like it, walk over to customer service and return it. Personally, I'd probably take free delivery (over $35) rather than pickup (free with no minimum) --you can still return locally if necessary. I don't have anything from Tekton yet but I've bought Knipex from Walmart. I've done both pickup and delivery.

It will be interesting to see how they hold up. The only USA drivers I've been impressed with for durability is SO, Mac, Williams. The pratt read, etc, stuff just doesn't last on anything that gets used- like a #2 phillips- my old Taiwan HF Pittsburgh are 10x better. And I'm no HF cheerleader . And I'm talking non professional use.

Just noticed the chrome shank versions are for sale already on the Tekton website. The tips on the Phillips are grit blasted (or whatever it’s called), but the flat heads are just chrome. Does that make any difference as far as how the flat head would grip?

I don't know but, I've been conditioned to want vapor blasted tips on my screwdrivers. There are lines like possibly anti slip on the flat tips. :dunno:

I agree with you. I guess it doesn’t make much of a difference on the flat heads, but I think I will wait for the black oxide Tekton screwdrivers to be released. These look really great. I like that style of handle.

It appears there are only three sizes of handles. Big, small, and stubby. So they are saving some money in the molding process, having just three die molds, for the new hard handles.
Their screwdriver blog gives some clues that at least part of the drivers are sourced from West Michigan.

https://www.tekton.com/most-versatile-handle

Universal Products Inc seems to match the map they display on that blog. If i was completely guessing, i would have to think they are possibly injection molding the handles onto the inserts, most likely provided from another source. Again, just a guess from some sleuthing. Could be completely wrong.

Think it’s great they are made in the US. If I was in the market for screwdrivers, I’d definitely try these.

We make these screwdrivers, but not in a traditional sense. Rather than start to finish production, we work with a variety of partners along the way while maintaining strict control of production. One partner may handle the blade, another the handle, and we stay involved in the process along the way. We often break down each component into multiple steps. This really lets us refine each exact process to the specs we require.

We also creatively look for partners outside of the standard tool industry. This lets us rethink old processes and really create the best tool.

We work with partners that are best at their step, and combine all efforts to create a tool to our specs. It’s more work, it takes longer, but it allows us to create the tools explicitly how we design them.

You guys keep doing what you're doing because, you consistently release new tools without any issues. I would like to see vapor blasted tips on the flat tips but, that's just me. I would also like to see a 90 tooth 3/8 drive flex head ratchet with a straight handle and an overall length of 12-13 inches along with a 1/2 drive version in the 17-18 inch overall length.
You had a pretty impressive SEMA booth this year. I don't think i've ever seen so many chrome sockets in one place.

One more thing, how about making a 1/4 magnetic bit holder with a 4 inch blade attached to one of those new hard handles?
