Wanting to get a Christmas gift for Daughters household occasional use tool box filling out.

She has no Vise Grips of any size/ style currently.

Probably this -

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01C2RTK36/?tag=atomicindus08-20

5 piece $35.58 choice

Is this OK or any other suggestions ?

Remember.... Occasional household use.

I myself virtually never buy China but feel this may be best VALUE for this situation.

Thank you, Marc

Go to Harbor Freight and get the variety of Bremen pliers. Can't recommend them enough for the price

Chris - So I did look at HF Bremen, and I see similar approximate totalized price to the "Crescent" set total from Amazon.

Are they better than the Crescent ? or what did I miss ?

I appreciate you saying they are suitable for the purpose intended.

I bought a set of Crescent in 2012 and was disappointed enough that I swore off Crescent. The teeth deformed on the first use. What I bought is not the same as what that link shows though.

snickers - Very interesting your experience.

But "not the same as the link shows"

Now I am confused... wondering if you had the Same as the link shows, or something different.

I would then expect the same soft teeth now as you got before ? or not ??

WOW - VERY interesting.

$20 more, and the relief levers handles are not plastic dipped.

Not that I care or want about the plastic, just saying apparently maybe different producer.

Ya, seems to be possibly from diff mfgr even though also shows "Crescent".

VERY interesting.

Anyone else ?

I would think alot of you Guys out there would be interested/ have input in this thread.

I'm not a fan of the needle nose style though. The jaws are too wide. The Irwin style is much narrower and therefore more useful in a "needle" nose variation.

I have a few of the years old Vise Grip smaller "needlenose" and love them when the need arises.

But they are like from 20 plus or so years ago.

Dunno about current offerings.... So asking here.

So, do I get Daughter the set in my post ?

I myself were very surprised at the quality to price ratio on these. Bought a couple to try out and they have been very good so far.

I cannot speak for Crescent being from the UK however I do have the Irwin waterpump pliers, combination pliers, locking pliers and c-clamp pliers.

They are very good for the money here in the UK and give a good blend of performance against price. Irwin have held up for me and get my vote.

While cresent not worst ones you can buy they nothing special,
You be far better going HF and hand picking best examples from Bremen and us a coupon or 2 .
Bremen are pretty good efforts and add to that hand picking quality control in shop and super easy warranty on a dud pair and it hard to beat for usable quality at this price point .
