You must not have been paying attention to the Gearwrench sales on Sears.com.

I bought my metric set for $22.49 on June 27th 2008. ;)

This is still a good deal, though. If I didn't already have a set in SAE , although not flex, I'd pick a set up. But 98% of my tool use is metric, so I really can't justify it.

I try to pay attention! I don't recall that deal, but as mentioned, I noted that the 14pc set was $60 that month. We're still talking 15 months ago - since then Sears has been much stingier. The last blanket all-Gearwrench sale I can recall was about a year ago, and it was only for 30%. The 40% and 50% sales that I've been waiting for never came.

All are welcome. =)

I'm pretty sure it was a price mistake back then. It was supposed to be 50% off all GearWrench wrench sets. They had marked them down by 50% to $44.99 , but when added to cart, another 50% was taken off. Yay! I can't remember for sure, but I don't think it worked on the SAE set, since I didn't buy one.

Attached is a screen shot of the confirmation e-mail.

It doesn't beat the $179 drill press that was supposed to be $479 (on sale from $529), though. I bought two! They cost $599 now.

ah, gotcha.

I too wanted a press, but thankfully I didn't have the means to take it home, nor did I have a place for it.

What really pissed me off with that deal is that there were so many people via Slickdeals and elsewhere that bought one or more just because. There were several serious posts saying "okay, I just order two. Now, what can I use them for?"

How do the flex head racheting combos compare in actual use with those models that have a fixed angled head(Non-flex). Which version/type is your go to ?????

And then what's your opinion of the XL versions with Flex head rachet-box opposing same sized fixed box ????

Thanks,

Ditto. I shouldn't have left without the 1 in the back and the one on the floor. Never got a pickup confirmation though.

Yea, I actually could have used one. I was right there and I bagged it.

That's why I order what I need and leave the rest of the other people. Just seems right.

You're welcome! :lol_hitti

I use my press all the time. The other one I sold to my buddy for what I paid + gas money to go buy it.

I actually ordered two of them online for pickup at two different locations. Both those orders were cancelled. So after work I went to one store and it was still marked $179. They sold it to me for that price and took the sign down. They didn't have one in stock, so they ordered one in.

Then I headed to another Sears 1/2 hour away, and the exact same scenario replayed itself, other than the fact that they had one in stock. It was a bit bigger than I expected, but the whole box fit into my car, JUST! Sears guys had their doubts when they saw my car. :)

Thanks for the info. Even the wife agreed that it was a good deal. I just need to check with my local sears to see if they are participating (someone told me they are an independent store). If not, guess I'll get what I can online or maybe drive an hour to the next closest Sears.

I have every flex head wrench that Gearwrench makes and I use them everyday. The only problem with the flex head is that it can get stuck on fasteners in really tight quarters. The flex makes it difficult to pull the wrench straight off. But this doesn't happen very often and the flex feature has made many jobs vastly easier then they would have been with a rigid head.

Wow very nice I just ordered both sets for 58.28 but It wouldn't let me choose a shipping option so dam I have to go pick them up, oh well they'll prolly get some more money while I'm in there.

I wasn't able to buy these using the website. It said they were not available for shipping, and then wouldn't process an in-store pickup either. I had to order over the phone, which was a hassle and I didn't get to use the $5 coupon Stuey posted on his site, but it's still a heck of a deal.

Thanks Stuey!

I just got back from Sears, and I can tell you that both sets are on display at the sale price of 69.99 (save $20)....my point being that this might just end up as the drill press :(

apologies for being my first post...

Did you scan one of the sets at a price check kiosk? Did you ask an associate to pull up the online page for the tool set?

Generally speaking, promos like this are usually online-only.

went to 4 different sears stores, only 1 of them had the metric set, all the other stores were out. this kinda news travels fast. bought 3 sets, they all marked on sale for $69, the cashier had to flag down the super to swap her card then over write the price down to $29.99 due to sears.com price match.

by the way, i took all 3 sets that store had in stock. i saw people came in asking the counter for these wrenches while i was dealing with the cashier. he..he..

no i did not...i just noted that both sets had the same SKU's that were online...so I can't say if they would have rung up at the $69.99 price or the $29.99 price...

given sears' history...if i was a betting man....

Ok. I'm just following directions. You can't pick them up without the proper bar code that is on pick up notice. At least that was my experience before.

Heck of a deal.

I dropped by Sears on my way home from work and saw that the sets were on the shelf with a sale price of $69.99. I took a look online using the Sears website computer in the tool dept and sure enough the $29.99 deal showed online so bang, I ordered them.

Online they showed as not available but the store had 3 of each set on the racks. They made me order on the computer then they delivered the sets to the Pick-Up department for me to officially get them. The saleswoman was helpful so it wasn't so bad.

I have not gotten the pickup email either, and I had to resend the order confirmation like you.

Fyi you can just scan the CC you made the order with and they will retrieve your order. Maybe try it? I think I will.

I've had issues with there being long delays before receiving confirmation as well.

As Mike suggested, you may have success in going to the store and scanning your credit card in the machine - the orders *should* come up if they're ready. Or you can give them a call to see if it's ready.

I resisted the temptation successfully!

You must wait until the deal is over to claim victory! :lol_hitti

I resisted at first but it's a pretty sweet deal and I figured I'd get them while I could and if eventually I get buyers remorse, I can just return them or sell 'em for my money back or for profit.

I usually don't open things until I actually use them.

Just ordered both sets. I wish I had seen this this morning, before I went to Sears this afternoon. Looks like I'll be there tomorrow also. Can't wait to see the next big deal you sniff out.
