I'm just finishing up with the roof tiles on this 8x14 storage/potting shed that I built in my side yard, to get all of the outdoor stuff (mower, garden tools, etc) finally out of the garage...

There was a post somewhere here about various sheds that folks had built, but I can't find it now.

Still have to build more shelving, hang some peg board...hopefully next weekend I'll be able to finish off the roof tiles.

great double doors especially with the built in storage

I'm about to start my shed and would like to try the same style

Can you give the details on the doors they look to be 2x4 framed but seems like that would be to heavy

Thanks in advance

I like the double doors a LOT. I am thinking about a 12x16, but I think my land easements mean 5/10 feet from the property line and that kind of kills the size a lot. I think those easements are for permanent structures, which a shed isn't  Anyone?

It's beautiful - it's functional - it doubles as a play house!!!!

LOVE the door shelf idea too. Also, did you "square up" the trim around the doors prior to installling the hinges, or was it all square to begin with? I'm just installing my doors and thought I'd to that so everything swings square.

That looks great - the framing looks really clean.

Are you allowed to have the shed right up against the property line like that? Where I am at in S Cal, they told me a need a 5' setback, which is one of the reasons I don't have a shed like that :(

Great attention to detail......

The doubler on the inside of the doors is a fantastic idea and a perfect application for OSB....OSB has great shear strength and will do a good job of keeping the door square....no doubt you have covered it with a clear sealer to keep out moisture?

I have to laugh at your door......it still has the little baggie of plastic screws covers stuck to the window like my door does.....

Your are going to replace those incandescents with CFL's....right?

Git...I'm in So Cal as well....my garage is 6" from the side and 2' from the back....as long as it's a 'garage', the 5' does not apply....at least where I am.
In your case, I would think that as long as it is not a permenant structure, you could be right on the line....such as the case would be with a shed.

Thanks for the kind words...Yes I am OK with the shed positioned as it is, since it is less than 120 square feet. Every city has it's own requirements...

The doors are just made of a simple 2x4 frame with the T-111 on the outside and the OSB on the inside, put together w/nail gun and liquid nails...They are very rigid and yup they are kind of heavy I guess, but It was more important to me that they kept their shape and stayed square over time, etc.

I will be painting the inside of the door storage cavities and the OSB with the same gray enamel I used on the floor...

Etec what I did was, I built the doors about 3/8 of an inch smaller than the opening (so I had about 3/16 or so gap all around) and I shimmed them in place before installing the hinges, then removed the shims...

I still need to add a small overhang, about 4", to act as a little "rain-break" to keep water from running down and into the door opening.

Dawg I will definitely be painting that door soon and use those little screw covers, LOL...Waiting for a calm day to spray it and the one on the detached garage still needs paint, too...

As to the incandescents, yes I will screw in some CFLs, I just put those 100 watt bulbs in there because they were laying around, I swear!! Please don't tell Al Gore, LOL

Excellent bit of framing there!! Like everyone else, the door pockets are a fantastic idea. I also like how you framed the hip over the man door. Why'd you do that? I assume there was an access issue which prevented you from building all four corners square? Whoops never mind, just saw your gate in the background. Very nice work!
