What are 1 1/16 and 1 3/16 sockets used for

I got a 1/2 drive set of Snap On sockets which are mostly E code. I am now trying to add some sockets which come in same drive and with same date code (hmm, nothing more expensive than inexpensive deal on some set...)
I will try to complete the set + some extras (thank you, Snapmom for pointing me to what is missing). However, I would like to see what those sockets are used for
(I am slowly collecting and restoring tools hoping to get to a car project at some point)

I have uses a 1-3/16 wrench for ac fittings on Ford tractors. 1-1/16" is 27mm and 1-3/16" is really close to 30mm

3/4" Nyloc nuts are 1 1/16", it's a commonly used in industry. Another 3/4" bolt size wrench is 1 1/4", used in steel construction.

Both are used in electrical and plumbing. IIRC garden hose fittings that take a wrench are one of those sizes. I bought a Martin service wrench to hook up and disconnect my outdoor hose reels each year. I think the hose is 1-1/16" and the conduit nuts are 1-3/16".

Thank you!
I greatly appreciate it! It is often hard to guess which sizes you need while building a good tool collection (my work does not depend on tools - I am collecting and restoring as a hobby with eventual plan to be able to cover majority of car/house/etc. with my tool collection (I used to buy the sizes I needed, but then I got onto GJ and started collecting, restoring and using better brands). I already benefitted multiple times from expanded tool collection, but I am still far from covering all common sizes...)

If you have any other uses for these sizes, please keep sharing your knowledge!

Thank you!

1-1/16" is very slightly less than 27mm, and it's also the SAE heavy hex spec for a 5/8" nut and bolt- I've used my old CM RP's a few times on old farm equipment. I don't recall ever running across 1-3/16", but I don't get out much.

1 1/16” fits the nut on the shank of a trailer hitch ball. A 1 1/26” open end, or metric equivalent, is required to adjust the cable tension on a Bend Pack 10k lift.

1-1/16" fits a lot of castle nuts (balljoints) on my Dodge stuff. Plus those oversize Ford lug nuts.

1-3/16" is less common for sure. Its not a common size in tools either. One of the ships I worked on did use that for most of the valvetrain (Mirrlees; british)

John Deere tractors where held together for years with 1 3/16" size bolt heads for years. With the switch to metric, now a lot of 30 mm heads. 1 1/16" is a pretty common size a lot of places.

Thank you! Pulled a plug and ordered SW-380 1944 1 3/16 off e-bay (it appears that it's relatively rare, decided not to take a chance missing it). Probably overpayed a lot at $13. Will slowly start looking to 1 1/16 SW-340

Please keep the answers coming - I am learning a lot! (and hopefully some other less experienced members like me will find it useful)

Thank you, everybody
SW-380-1/2 code E made it home (1 3/16" one)

I was hoping that I can fit it in the tray, but it is too big (hopes die last, Snapmom told me the missing sizes and it was not one of them)

Once I am done cleaning the my Blackhawk Red Rover and get the missing roller for it, the set will probably find it's place inside the drawer with multiple divisions (at least till I get the original 100 piece set of Blackhawks, but this will take most likely very many years...)

Pictures:
1. the new socket
2. Pick up of the Snap On mostly 1944 set (posted it in SO thread)
3,4. Red Rover and the tray which will eventually start being filled with sockets...
