Site says 2-3 weeks for processing and replacement. Is that realistic?

I warrantied out a few screwdrivers about 2 years ago. It took about 1.5 weeks door to door. I live a couple hours south of Mac (or at least the mailing address) so that probably knocked a day or 2 off for shipping times. Good luck finding a dealer. They were scarce on my side of town back then.

it has been good so far for me. back when i was in california last year, i sent 2 ratchets and couple air tools for warranty. the two ratchets was replaced with brand new ones, tool about 10 days. looking at my paper work, i shipped them UPS ground, 4 working days to Ohio, they shipped back to me Fedex 2-day air the next day. the air tools were rebuilt, 3 weeks back in my hands.

based on my own first hand experience, with Mac, at least you have the option to send your tools in for warranty, Matco was the worst, SO next.

MAC shipped mine back in about 2 weeks after receiving. Only time it took longer was after the tool was back ordered. Of course I'm about 75 miles north of there factory in Ohio.

I don't have any MAC tools, but since another poster mentioned Stanley-Proto, I shipped them a broken Blackhawk screwdriver and it took 4 business days from the time I dropped the package off at the P.O. until I had the replacement tool at my door. I dropped it off at the P.O. on Thurs. P.M. and received the replacement on the following Tues.

Just got a postcard in the mail (a week later).

It states:

"The Mac Tools Consumer Warranty Return Department has received your warranty item. The following items are shipped from a Third Party Vendor and have been ordered....

(lists the invoice number - hand written)
(lists the items returned by part number - hand written)

Please allow 2-3 weeks for these items to arrive"

I guess this confirms that they are not made in the US by Mac.

If so, I would complain. Another member here did that and got a usa ratchet or socket. I forget what, but I hope he posts.

It takes for freaking ever. I used to have an awesome Mac dealer and sold me a lot of tools. He has since "retired" (read went bankrupt) and now my new guy wants all of our warranty stuff to go to Stanley, not through him. Well that sealed the deal for me, I may never buy another Mac tool. In the past I have sent stuff off that my dealer could not warranty and 2-4 months was not out of the ordinary.

Haha.... I can't believe it.

The tools showed up TODAY. How's that for inaccurate notifications?

Package came from:

Shipping Dept.
Professional Tool Product
100 Roe Rd.
Travelers Rest, SC 29690
864-834-8759

Packing list shows SOLD TO:

Stanley Mechanics Tools
ATTH: Accounts Payable
PO BOX 1311
East Greenwich, RI 02818

So...are these made by Stanley tools in Taiwan?

And yes, the tools are Made in Taiwan as I suspected. Quality looks good. Design is slightly different - boxed end is "deeper".

I don't know if I would have any luck. Do you really think they have USA made stock sitting around?

Not all Taiwan tools are that bad...but I prefer USA as well. BTW, I have a set of Mac Microtough ratchets (Taiwan), and they have really fine gears (72 tooth), however, I don't think they would hold up to a lot of torque.

Whoops. I guess that would be nice to know.

2 of the high performance wrenches that were dechroming badly.

...the ones you said were not made in Taiwan.... lol

Oh yeah Ok....now I remember....I was surprised to learn they were made in Taiwan, but the Taiwanese are getting better I guess.

Got any pictures of the new ones? And while you're at it, how about some more pictures of the nanny? :bounce:

Wow.........the 14 x 15 is longer than the 16 x 18. :eek2:

And they increased the offset too. :eek2:

Wonder why they would be so different. You would think they would just hand the dies over to the them and let them go at it.

Do you think the offset would be a problem?

Did you call MAC before you sent them in?
I just received a 21 mm wrench from them under warranty and it was the easiest warranty claim I have ever done. I just called them up, the rep looked up my profile from when I ordered a wrench rack three months ago and sent me a brand new wrench- no further questions asked and I did not have to send the old one in either. Only took fives days for it to show up too.

No call, just sent them in. Got this one in 6 working days.

How bad was your wrench?

Maybe I should have tried that....

It had a bow in it running from end to end. Same kind of situation you were in, some lame seller on ebay sold me a bent wrench. I have also called them for some ratchet kits in the past and the same thing, no questions asked and they just fedex'd the stuff to me for free.

I was presently surprised at work this morning when a package from Fedex arrived from MAC. Opened it up and found two brand new ratchets. I'm more than happy with the replacement ratchets. The old ones just needed rebuild kits, sent out last tuesday UPS, very quick turnaround time. I guess they should have sent another soft grip, but the hard grip is just fine.

Here's what I sent in

Here's what they sent back

I know this thread is old but id thought i would share my experience on returning an item to mac to be warranted. I sent an 8-9 mm zero degree offset high performance wrench to mac last monday cause it was bent alittle and recieved my new one today so it took exactly one week which is great and alot sooner than i expected. Also the OP of this thread sent some of the same wrenches which his were US made and got back some from Taiwan so i was expecting to get back the same but instead got a US made one. Overall im very happy with Macs service
