My neighbor gave me a smoking deal last summer. Had a 1968ish Sears 10" radial arm saw with all the original manual and such (he ordered it to build his first house!) He also threw in this vintage drill press and an early 80's Craftsman bench grinder with a base stand for $100; mainly because he told me I could get $100 for sending in the motor from the radial arm saw recall if I didn't use it. LOL
Anyhow, I do not see any identification on the drill press. Not sure, but it might be missing the guard for the belts or designed to be open, not sure. The electric motor has a plate on it. Motor is bright orange/black. Companion by Sears Roebuck and Co. Type SP 1/4 HP, 1750 RPM, 5 Amp, Model 115-5231 bottom says "B30" See picture... Someone said Companion was from 1931 to early 40's when switched to Dunlap brand, though haven't seen a plate like this one from search I saw on VintageMachinery website. My neighbor recently rewired it and replaced the broken power switch.
Any ideas on the press? It doesn't look like any of the Companion presses I have seen online. I started looking through the vintage press thread, but after many pages, thought easier to post here and ask.
Thanks!
Bruce
