I'm thinking a different material for your wedge spacer might have been better. Check out Adam Savage's work with Delrin plastic......

There's a ton of materials that would be better... But under quarantine, the baltic birch is really all I had access too... But this is really just a prototype. If I decide to take it further, I might try some walnut for shits and giggles...

If you haven't looked up Steam Punk Keyboard, it might amuse you.

I used to buy surplus keyboards from a place called Jamco in the early 80's. I would wire wrap the connections I needed to interface it with my Sinclair computer and my Atari. So I would have real keyboard instead of a membrane one. Yeah, I'm that old...
