LMAO!!!!!

Maybe he set such a high price so he DIDN"T have to sell it, you never know since he is going through a divorce, it may be the other party involved demanding the sale.

When they both see that the highest price offered is $1000 he will hand her $500 and tell her to shove off.

You mean that's not a deal? Those guys drive me nuts too. I'm always tempted to fire off an email, but figure what's the use.

It's all supposed to be Craftsman...funny thing is, the tools are in a Kobalt toolbox! :headscrat

He'll be waiting until hell freezes over to get anything close to that kind of money...but b/c he's getting divorced... maybe that's the point! :spit:

Well, if that makes you CRAZY.... you are going to CRAZY for a LONG TIME! LOL! I see this type of thing on craigslist all the time... wether its tools, toolboxes, computers etc. people post up unrealistic price for things continuously! Sometimes, I wonder if anything actually sells on craigslist! LOL! Welcome to the world of unrealistic expectations! :) Then again; as the old saying goes: "there is a sucker born every minute".... maybe they do get these high asking prices, I know I won't pay them, though!

There's a guy here who's posted at least ten times asking $150 for an old vise. This last time, he asks why is his post being flagged. Because someone is trying to give you a hint to get lower or get gone and stop wasting everyone's time! Wasn't me, because it is impossible to police the world (see Afghanistan) or even craigslist tools.

thnx, jack vines

It will have to be shown as a good faith effort to sell the tools and the box, otherwise, what could happen is she decides she wants them/it, and she will turn around and sell stuff for $1, out of spite.

Here's the most CL insanity I've seen....I've been using CL for four years now...and this guy has been posting this ad for at least that long. He was asking around $600 when I first saw it...he's been asking $499 for the last three years or so. He reposts this ad every 2-3 weeks.

Thats funny, snap on boxes that big go for cheap at auctions. I bought one a little beat up but bigger than that one for 40 bucks.

Don't lose the faith. Use the time you are looking for a box with a save more money. It will come trust me. I always wanted a 57 Chevy Snappy box and recently I was searching CL using searchtempest and was looking for a bigger snappy box as mine was pretty full. I found a Snappy bel air box with storage locker, matching cart, screwdriver set, clock, extras the guy through in for $2500. This model box upper and lower goes for over 9K and that side locker is like $2500 new. I haven't got a better deal than that come through. I do look actively right now for tools/boxes on CL in my area and will buy up a box full of tools if it's cheap enough. I recently got a Mac tools older box full of tools for $400. Had maybe $1200 worth of Snappy and Mac stuff inside and I just buffed out and polished the box and sold it for $380 a couple days ago.
Deals are still out there, the guy's trying to get 80% of retail will come down if they are really hurting eventually. That Bel Air box guy told me he listed it for $6k, 5500, 5000, 4500 and finally got tired of messing around and listed it for $2500.

Dont lose faith and dont forget ebay. Times are hard right now and I bought another huge cornwell box on ebay for $750. I dont have any pics of it, but its the same size as my yellow bottom, but it has the hood with a lid and the locker going across at the bottom, Its an older unit and it had some transformers stickers that had to be removed and a good coat of turtle wax applied, but it turned out pretty damn sharp. I also had to drive about 5 hours round trip to pick it up.

BTW I picked that yellow one up on ebay also for $2800 brand spanking new. It had never had a tool in it. The guy won it in some contest at his dealership. In my experience there has always been more toolboxes cheaper on ebay and not many people are in the market for $1000+ toolboxes. The trick is finding one close enough to you and pouncing. I notice there is ALWAYS a good deal on a box in cali. I found a bunch of auctions for all THE MONSTER GARAGE tools a few months back. Most of the stuff was a steal, except it was local pick up only =(

Also just search for cornwell. mac or SO tends to bring up too many listings to sift through the ********. people think because its says SO they should get what they paid for it

I guess just like anything else you have to keep looking and pounce when you find it. Not **** within 250 miles of my zip at the moment... not that I'm in the market (because the garage is FULL), but still interesting to look. I have a storage space, so if I see a true bargain I buy it and throw it in there.

You mean that's not a deal? Those guys drive me nuts too. I'm always tempted to fire off an email, but figure what's the use.

I used to feel that way too, wanting to send off an email, but I see so many of these that I don't think there's enough time. :spit:

One guy had a really nice, untouched, spotless Matco Ghost Rider special edition box. I actually think that these, unlike most of the special edition ones, look pretty well done. I offered the guy what was reasonable, he laughed it off in his email and said he'd keep the quote in mind. Six months later he still hadn't sold it for the $3000 above market that he was asking. One day he posts it down to what I was offering and it was gone in a day or two (sadly, not to me). Some people just have no clue. :wtf:

Had another guy with a nice Matco triple bay, was asking too much for it. Offered him lower, he barks at me that he's got 5 other serious offers and he's not going to quibble with me over a few hundred dollars. Several months later I see the ad is re-posted, with a price LOWER than what I offered him. I made it a point to send the guy a nice email and ask him what happened to those 5 serious offers that be blew me off over. No response. :bounce:

Other than that, though, I just don't get into it with people anymore. There's a quote from a Dilbert that sums up my feelings on CL these days: "When you find a pot full of crazy, it's best not to stir it." :lol_hitti

Every once in awhile I will send an email. I just matter of factly state that what they're asking is far more than what it's worth. Sometimes, the person posting the ad really doesn't know what it's worth, it might be the wife of someone who owned the box at one time or something like that.

One box, a snap on taco box that looked to be pretty decent, they were asking around $2200 for it. I emailed them and told them that $800 was the upper end of the price range for one of those in good shape. Over the next two weeks, the price dropped to $1500, then $800! :spit:

What do you mean? It's "on wheels" so it's totally worth $12k. :bounce:

welcome to the town I live in. I do not know who this is, but you see it is still up there. mostly soldiers and a few idiots out here try and sell the world on CL. it gets better everyday. I am going tonight to check on a few snap on and blue point tools. hopefully they go cheap..........
