So we all now that the corners are a type of dead space in a shop especially in mine where I have work benches, shelving units or storage cabinets against almost every wall. My question is what do you guys put in the corners or your buildings?? I was going to put my air compressor there but its about 55ft from the electrical panel and I just didn't want to go that far with it. It's now moved to under the stairs to the loft and only about 10ft away. I'm at a slight loss on how to make a corner space somewhat useful space. Right now all I can think to do with it is just use it for storage of the welder, battery charger and other items. So what does everyone do with this somewhat odd space??

My garage is long and narrow 14' X 48' so the front two corners are the overhead door and the access door. I added a stub wall (?) in the center only ~30" deep so one of those has a compressor room and will have my tool boxes and other wheeled items along that wall right up to the compressor. In the next bay I have an upright storage cabinet leading into the lathe and the shelves to the back wall, where I have a pair of 8' [2 @ 4'] wide barn doors [I hang my clamps and the likes on these so still good storage and lets the breeze blow through] other wall has my work bench/steel rack the bridgeport and my Wells saw [Vintage bandsaw] that leaves one garbage collecting corner, there I have the paper towel rack and a shelf for the tunes. I also hope to get the car in here some day before I die, so far not looking to good! :lol_hitti That theoretically leaves a 8' strip down the center to work in, it's a good theory just hasn't proved out in practice yet. Does that help you at all?

Old school lockers fit nicely in those corners and make good use of the space.

The one back corner of my garage/shop has the tankless water heater hanging on the wall and below that is the seat from my project car. This sort of storage area I can deal with for that usage. The other back corner has a cheap plastic shelving unit that is borderline useless as its boxed in on one side by a garage fridge, and on the other wall by another shelving unit. The small gap between the shelving units has gotten filled up with vertical things like a pop up canopy, scrap pieces of wood and metal.

Its a mess and drives me crazy any time I need to access anything in that corner shelf unit.

I really need to figure out a better use of that space.

each corner 180* apart is a I.R. t30 compressor . 2545 & 2420n5 . then a blast box next to the smaller unit . next is a extra 80 gal air storage tank and all my gas bottles for cutting and mig welding . then the most important corner is the shop fridge and candy box on top .

A Bridgeport mill, toolbox, vibratory tumbler and spiders, lots of ******* spiders. Dunno how to keep them at bay either it’s like the harder I try the more they multiply.

left rear corner I have my 'work" boxes, I work out of a service truck, so those boxes only have unneeded tools in them.

right rear corner has a couple shelves, one has jackstands on it, a couple portable toolboxes, and air compressor up top.

right front has the generator, and a low shelf to pile **** on i'm too lazy to put away

left front, narrow shelves for premix gas cans, funnel and 2 stroke oil

lots of cobwebs, leaves and who knows what else is hiding back there

While 55 ft seems like a big deal it might not be. I just consult on an install this mornine and I suggested put it where you want it, not cause it's a few ft close or where it landed when it was shoved in the door. I saw one a while back they run in to it at the front door for last 30 years, tools way in the back, thousands of trips over **** for every wrench or driver.

Northeast corner has the man door on the east side, bench along the north wall. The "beer fridge" is on the end of the bench, behind the open door.

Northwest corner has shelves with paints, cleaners, etc.

Southwest corner is more shelves that have parts and larger items like battery charger, timing light, etc.

Southeast corner is the stairway going up.
