Hi all. Just signed into these forums today and am looking for any help on identifying and getting more info on a vintage asian circular saw that I bought yesterday. A little background on me, I am a retired GM skilled trades electrician who retired in 2018 and moved to Guatemala to maximize my retirement funds as food, utility and housing costs are much less expensive here than in the USA. In Guatemala, the selection of almost anything is usually much less than in the USA and in many instances much more expensive than in the USA. Example is I can buy a DeWalt or Milwaukee power tool here but the stores tend to have only one model of the particular tool, usual a low end model, but the cost is about double what the same saw costs in the states. They also sell a lot of low quality foreign made tools but the price is still about double what I'd expect to pay for a comparable quality tool in the states. Guatemala also has a thriving used tool market because of the costs of buying new. They have a lot of small stores that would be comparable to Goodwill and they tend to specialize in what they sell, like only clothes, only appliances, only tools, etc. I had previously bought one of the cheap quality (a lot of plastic and thin metal) but new circular saws I found here figuring it would be good enough for how often I use it and what I use it for but it crapped out on me after a few uses. So I went to one of the used tool stores and sifted through a number old saws, many of which I never heard of or names totally in asian writing. There were some old Milwaukee and Ryobi saws too. But, the saw I settled on was one of them with only asian writing on it. It was more heavy duty looking than most of the other saws and seems to operate great. So that all brings me to my question. Does anyone have any clue about the manufacturer of this saw and / or where I might be able to look to find out more about it? Things like specific use and maintenance.

Did some more looking online and I guess I bought a Makita 3501N groove cutter saw. I googled "saw 3501n" and got lots of images of the identical saw that I have. I'm not familiar with what a groove cutter saw is so I'll be doing some more reading online. Still open for anyone's comments or suggestions.

yep!.. that is actually what those kaji characters in the red box say ;) you will notice the saw is beefy powerful and has an unusual blade arbour that will allow you to mount blades much thicker than standard... it is to allow groove cutters or dado type blades to be mounted and run.. you will notice it takes an unusually small blade.
here is a link to an english manual and parts diagram https://www.makita.my/products/?proid=575
nice score!

That is an awesome saw and I would snap one up ASAP if it became available in my neck of the woods. The font on the label and hammer tone gold paint look just like an older Makita, here's a picture of one of mine for reference.
