mini split scheduling logic

I have a MR Cool Advantage 18k mini split in my 24 x32 x 12 garage. It works great. The door, walls, and ceiling are insulated. I'm in Central VA.
I work a typical 8 to 5 job, so it doesn't make sense to cool it all day, but I also dont want it getting crazy hot out there so I can work out there in the evening.

For the last few weeks, I've had the schedule set to keep it at 82 during the week and drop it to 78 on weekends. I stopped in yesterday morning about 6:00 after my morning walk and realized it was cooler outside than inside. This got me thinking.

It's more efficient to cool when the outside temp is cooler. It probably makes sense to cool it more at night to bring it down to ambient temp so that it doesn't have to work as hard during the day when the outside temp is hotter. I'll end up with an overall cooler garage and use less energy doing it.

I set up a new schedule to cool it to 75 degrees starting at 10PM and then adjust back to 82 degrees at 8 AM. I think this makes sense. I could probably drop it even further at night, but it's really hot and humid here right now. I expect we'll get a break in a few weeks and our overnight temps will be in the 60s. At that point I think it would make sense to cool it down overnight even more.

Anyone want to offer a sanity check on my logic here?

You sort of want to watch the float ....

One of my places has three zones -- with a sub zone. 1st/2nd (master sub that is spray foamed) / rear addition .... there is no point in cooling the second floor when no one is up there. Same with heating the addition in the winter at night. You have to see what happens with the heat ..... and how fast the unit can recover. In my case if I do nothing on most days the second floor will float close to 80 on warm days by 2pm ... if I do nothing it's back to 78 or lower at 6-7pm. So i set the unit to 81 during those times so it's never fighting the heat. Buy 6-7 the lower floors are not needing as much and the unit can quickly cool the upstairs. I can tell by looking at the energy use how this saves energy. It's really a question of trying different things .... sometimes ones internal logic thinks something makes sense ... and they are wrong. Like large set backs ... they make you uncomfortable and don't save much more vs smaller setbacks.

Another factor is humidity -- my systems measure the humidity in the zones. Some times they have to run more just to remove. If you don't keep the humidity in check -- the units have to work much harder to both remove the water and bring the temp down
