I finally got my mini-split units installed. I am going to pay an A/C technician to evacuate the line sets before opening the valves to fill them with the refrigerant. Hopefully all will go well...
I decided to use plastic drain pipe for line set covers. At the top I modified a dryer outlet fitting. I removed the flapper valve, cut a piece of exterior plywood to fit the opening under the sloped 'hood' and attached a gutter drop to that piece of plywood. 3"x4" drain pipe would have fit into the dryer vent piece but it would have needed a lot of caulking or something to fill the gaps. So I used 2"X3" drain pipe which had enough room inside for the insulated line set pipes & the wires that run between the outside & inside units.
The drain pipe needed to be spaced out from the siding about 1/2" so I used some PVC pipe caps. I drilled a hole through the end of the cap and used that as a spacer for the drain pipe mounting straps.
I wanted to mount the inside unit in the garage on the wall that is on the other side of a staircase that runs along the back wall. I used a length of 4" PVC drain pipe (because I had some left over from another project) to run under the stairs to the wall about 3 1/2 feet away. That worked out well as the 4" pipe fit snugly into the dryer outlet at the outside wall.
