New member...new 40x60x16 garage

Hi guys, I just had my garage built last month. Concrete was done on the 9th. I think the garage doors will be installed tomorrow. Hoping to have a nice spot in the next couple years! I finally decided I should sign up for the forum. I look forward to gaining a ton of info on here. Thanks!

Curious on who you had do the work? I know there's a big shop out of PA that does a lot of these types of buildings. Looks awesome! Plans to finish the inside?

Very nice build! I also tried for 16' sidewalls but the board would not approve the height variance.
Looks like we also share the hobby of firewooding in addition to Foxbody Mustangs.

It was done by extremepolebuildings.net. Small company and was referred by a good friend. They did a huge riding arena for him.
The inside will definitely get finished but it'll be a while. The 2 immediate things will be a floor coating (still researching) and electrical/lighting. I have a wood stove to start with for heat. Thinking about a big *** fan to circulate some air. That will be decided after next year.

Nice garage and welcome to the forum. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!

What will the purpose of the garage be? Storage or working on toys?

This will definitely be a multi purpose garage/workshop. I'm an everything mechanic so I want to have a space capable to take on almost any job. On one end will be car/motorcycle storage, middle bay will have a 2 post lift, and the tall bay will remain as open as possible to accommodate anything oversize.

Yeah I'm surprised they even allowed a post frame building in town! Luckily out in the "country" we don't have many restrictions. We definitely share the hobbies! Although the firewood was from all the trees where the garage now sits.
I believe I came to check out your car in the past when it was "for sale" lol.

Sounds awesome. I can definitely relate to the everything mechanic part and having tools and equipment to work on most everything.

I understand your pain when it comes to clearing trees in order to build.
Yes, and the car is pretty much the same as when you saw it then lol
Your build looks great, always nice to have a little extra space, just in case.

Also heres one of a vertical mill i won at auction recently, and when I brought it back on the trailer.

Not too much happening here yet, besides constantly hitting auctions! I got a full 18' lista workstation with electrical. Baldor 8" pedestal grinder with collector, I already had the red and black toolboxes.

I wanted to coat the floor but its getting too cold here now. Financing is going through next week so I'll be getting the electric/ lighting and insulation done over the winter. Hopefully will get a 2 and 4 post lift, add a mezzanine.
I have another haul from a recent auction still to pick up in the next week or so.

Well it's been a little bit, finally scheduled an electrician so hopefully I'll have power before the end of the year.
I just finished this weekend coating 90% of my floor with ghostshield 8510. It was super easy and I used much less then expected. It looks no different then before I applied so I'm happy about that too, no mishaps with temperature or over applying or anything.
I started moving all my stuff back into position.
Lifts are coming tomorrow so over the next few weeks I'll start setting them up. I got an advantage 11k 4 post lift and challenger e12 2post lift.
4" polyiso for the rafters....still have to get stuff for the walls yet.

So the lifts I got from advantage lifts out in pa. I just had them shipped, saved me time and I was able to get the floor sealed. The 4 post is up and operational under power of the generator for now haha.
Power was upgraded on the house so far, the shop should be done Monday - Tuesday.

Not too much going on I've been so busy. The power is on! I had them just come in under the building. I should've planned that ahead of time with some conduit already stubbed in.
I hung some temporary lights and have been stocking up on my electrical supplies.
I ended up getting 4ft 4400lumen lights. I kind of wish I just went with 8ft. I'm linking them to be 8ft and with hang 14 up. I didn't realize the way these mounted when I bought them so I have to make do.
All 20amp outlets, 20 and 30 maps for the lifts, some 50amp outlets, 5 barn style lights for outdoor.

Coming alone nicely! I like the mezzanine style. if I could go back again with mine, I would have went 16' tall instead of 14' tall just for the face that I could build a mezzanine/loft and be able to stand up on it without bumping my head.
Cant wait to see it all finished.

Cool spot.

I went with a BYB lift —- earlier this year, the BYB company merged with Advantage (from what I can tell) and their product is quite nice. My lift looks very similar to yours, with the exception of the vehicle parked on it, and the color combo. One of the nicest things that I found in working with this lift set up is that it can be run on a 20a circuit. Though, I am sure that running it on a dedicated 2-phase would make it run more quickly. What are you running yours on?
