This RAMTOOLS set from Amazon looks really good. Lots of sizes and long bits. Is this brand any good? It’s cheaper than GearWrench and has more bit selections.

Between the two, I would probably choose the Gearwrench set. You may want to find T55 & T70 in 1/2" drive to add to the set. They show up occasionally.

Another set to consider is this one from Capri, although the price is a bit higher. Maybe they'll run it on special soon.

There is something to be said for having all of the sockets in a set like that.

If you work on VW's, you may want to consider the adding triple square as well. The fun never ends!

I have the Gear wrench 84pc set and it works really well. The VIM TMS77 77pc Master Torx Set is even higher quality than the gear wrench, and comes with Torx plus, 5 pt Torx Plus, and Inverted Torx Plus, but lacks the long Torx. If you get both sets most of your Torx and Hex needs will be covered

VIM is the way to go if you want top quality at a low price. For typical home use, with a bit of common sense, any torx bit can last a long time.

Tractor Supply has the 84 Pc. Gearwrench set for $89.99, much cheaper than Amazon and eBay.

There is a thread on here somewhere about a new gimmick looking hex driver/3/8" drive socket bit driver from MAC that seems to work very well but might be very expensive-hex almost looks like a Torx
think its called "R.B.R.T."
might be interesting to have a couple in the most likely sizes to commonly strip out

One thing I learned this summer is that if your fastener is torx+ and your bit is not you will destroy your bit faster than you can blink. I believe torx+ bits are back words compatible but torx bits are not forward compatible with torx+ fasteners.

It seems to be critical to get the exact right torx or torx+ bit and sometimes a bit that is one size too small seems to fit in a dirty fastener-ouch!
might also be a good idea to keep a pick or dissecting needle to scrape out the bottom of the torx and allen holes before trying to force the bit in
I can't tell by looking (without a magnifying glass) whether a fastener is torx or torx+
so might be a good idea to try a couple or four (just for fit, don't twist until you have the right one.)

Wow those CapriTools look like some quality pieces. Even the case looks really nice and sturdy!

When someone on GJ pointed out the Vim Tools Red Hot Deals section, I bought all four of the Matco 1/4” long sets. They are really nice for the money.

I could use a few different sets of 3/8” drive long, and I will probably pony up for the Vim sets.
