Does anyone know about a vintage VARCO Los Angeles Corner Clamp Vise? It's stout. Is this similar to the 1970s Wilton V5 woodworkers corner vise. I can't find anything online , and will continue to search . Thanks in advance.

That also looks similar to a Millers Falls corner vise that is quite robust looking too, which may spread out your timeline a bit. This looks similar, may be follow the patents will help.

Those pics look familiar, you buying or considering it?

Here are a couple of catalog cuts, in our own past, linked here from twertsy (vicious circle)

I have a Dunham Carrigan & Hayden (SF) catalog with the Varco listed at a V-100 on 8-26-37. The Baker etc. catalog listed in the GJ link above was a Sacramento based company from the same era.

He’s usually got tons of pretty decent stuff, at above bottom feeder prices, but not bad prices.

Yes, Anthony ! I always peruse his vise offerings, but decided to look for my favorite Vintage CM carpenters tool box. I emailed him on it, then noticed the background was the same as the Vises. I Zelle'd him 50 percent down and pick them up Tuesday before my week long work shift. I think the box is 1971,, 1972. My now good pal from the GJ is in his 60s and loves CM.... He believes the era is correct on the badge I sent him . You are right on his pricing.. And he's into wood !

Man !!! Fascinating info ! Thanks for posting the link . I'd initially seen it but ignored it. Involve industrial history like that, especially oil and gas

In 1939, Gardiner Union St, Oakland, CA announces the purchase of "Varco" Forged Tool division of Abegg & Reinhold Co. , Los Angeles , which for many years manufactured “Varco" hand forged tools . The line will be made by Gardiner under the “ Varco " trade name , .... the rest lost to snippet view
