New member here. I have been quietly taking notes on all of your garage builds and my time to start has finally come. The garage is a new construction stick build on foundation. It is to be: 32 foot wide and 28 foot deep. Roughly 12.5 foot ceilings and roof to have a 10x12 pitch to match our house. This should leave me with a decent size room upstairs for storage. To access this room we decide to install a outside staircase to the second story for ease of access.(recovering pack rat) On the front facing wall is to be two 12x10 doors 12 wide 10 tall, the left wall (adjacent to our home) will have a man door and a double window. The back wall, a pull through door 10x8. The right wall is just that. Inside the garage I plan to install a flush mount scissor lift (more details when I reach this step) that I just ordered today. Hope you all enjoy this thread and may it help someone who is thinking of building a garage soon.

Start date 9/21/2020

Brick and block work finished. Ready for inspections and wood delivery. Don't mind the junk in my yard. Started a squarebody project and then decide I should build a garage at the same time. :lol_hitti

Trusses are being lifted up. Contractor said they normally install themselves but with the size of these it was better to hire a crane. The crane reached well over the tree tops. My neighbors are starting to realize what's going on I think. I live back in the woods so they can only see the trucks coming in and hear all of the work going on. 10/9/2020

Going up FAST. Looks great. Overflowing with envy out here in snowy Kansas. :(

Thanks! I have been waiting a long time to have this and it is definitely starting to sink in that I will be inside the garage soon. The builder is great! so easy to work with and stays on task, I feel that is a rare trait in the construction world theses days. I am lucky. The weather in VA isn't too bad yet we are still in the 60's

Painted Location of holes to be dug out tomorrow in preparation for concrete to be poured (may be set back due to rain). Holes in wood are for PVC 4" to house the Hydraulic, air and power lines from lift to external console.

Very well documented. All of this could come in handy some day. Hopefully not, but it's good to have all of that documentation & photos should you ever decide to sell the property. ;)

Very nice build. I'm currently planning out a 28x25, wish I could do 32 like that, the extra room would be nice. When you get your lift installed let us know how you like it, I'm debating one like that or just a standard 4 post.

Thank you, Its still possible if you really want to. I have seen a lot of people cut out and install in existing slab. Just a thought

Thank you, yes I almost went 28x28 but I had the room and really wanted the extra space to work. I will keep updating and will definitely tell all my thoughts on the lift!

JCT looks and sounds like you have a cool build going on. What are the plans for the 2nd floor -storage or social room.

Thank you, Current plans for the 2nd floor is storage. (with the ability to change later) For now i will be trying to organize the best I can to have easy access for long term things I don't use often to keep the shop clutter free. After the inspector is out of my hair I believe a outside staircase and 3' man door will be added to 2nd story for easy of use.
