I couldn't find a ton of information on PVC tiles, when I was selecting flooring and even less (that wasnt manufacturer produced) on the Norsk product, so I figured I would share my thoughts so far. I ultimately chose PVC tile because I will be using the garage as a gym, as well as working on the pro-touring build of my C3. I didn't want the mess of trying to apply an epoxy type coating myself, and the cost of hiring a pro to install wasn't worth it to me. As good as racedeck type tiles look, I was concerned with them being noisy or damaged during workouts, and getting a buildup of fiberglass dust, transmission fluid, etc that seeps past the tiles (these could have been false concerns, but PVC seemed to be a better fit for my needs).
Purchasing:
Once I made my mind up, I reached out to a few vendors, but struggled with getting responses and information (maybe issues with Covid?). I eventually contacted Garage Flooring LLC, and was given immediate customer service, all the info I needed, and was ready to purchase. I ordered the Norsk PVC in black with the rhinotec pattern so that I could more easily roll my toolbox and future lift around. I had the tiles, nicely packaged, at my door in 4 or 5 days. I was extremely happy doing business with Garage Flooring LLC.
Install:
Install was easy, and instructions were clear and included with every box. I was fortunate with my space that the tiles were just a few inches short of most of my walls, so rather than cut thin strips out of whole tiles, I opted to order 2 more of the trim kits to cover the gaps. I do have a cinder block foundation around the outside edge that I decided to paint black as well as painting the edges of the concrete floor to cover the relief gap between the trim and the cinder blocks. This biggest part of install is determining how your tiles will be spaced (especially if you have an irregular shaped garage like mine), to avoid waste and get the fitment you would like, then installing is just a matter of laying the tiles and tapping them together with a rubber mallet. My 14 year old daughter was able to help with the process.
Performance so far:
The tiles are tougher than I expected. Just during the install of the tiles and my weight rack, I have accidentally stepped on a screw, and dropped a heavy metal bracket onto them with no marks whatsoever. These specific pvc tiles are not advertised as waterproof, and do have a drainage pattern on the underside of them. The teeth lock together very tightly though, and the only areas I could see allowing fluid through is at the corners where there is a small pinhole sized gap in each tile. I parked my truck on the tiles after driving in a storm and all of the standing water that spanned across multiple seams was still in puddles the next morning.
I chose black to avoid tire staining that pvc can be prone to. Obviously the black shows dirt from parking, and that standing water I referred to has left some watermarks once it finally evaporated. A leafblower made for easy cleanup of the loose dirt and I plan to just keep a mop/swiffer setup for the garage when it needs it, as they look brand new with a quick wipe down. My only gripe (a minor one at best), is that there is a small "Norsk" logo at the corner of every tile, that I would prefer wasn't there. It is barely noticeable though, and I just made sure they were uniform throughout the install.
