Anyone have good long term experience with an electric shop heater? Lots of conflicting reviews as to performance, durability, etc. Looking for a brand recommendation.

Hard wired, single phase, 6500+kw 21x30 well insulated. Want to set it at 50 degrees and forget about it in W MT. (zone 2).

Not doing minisplit or gas.

Thanks.

Stu's third link above is what I've had in my shop for over a decade. It's been awesome, but the internal thermostat just finally died (heat still works, I just need to manually turn on/off until I fix).

I have a mini-split now that maintains constant temp, and then I bump up with the electric heater linked above.

Yesterday I just put one of these 7500 watt in at my brother's shop in a converted garage used for storage.

I didn't care for the louvers, just stamped metal that bends for adjustment. But it cycles as it should for continuous unattended use. Also if the power goes out it comes back on to heat when it's restored. Has a big 600 cfm fan and the element relays sound really robust. Also has a 5 year warranty.

I also have two of these 5000 watt in my garage, but I wouldn't recommend them for continuous use. I got them on sale $70 each a few years ago. Work well for my minimal use, though the fans are pathetic...160cfm.

Thanks guys.. just what I was looking for. My Dad had one for 20+ yrs and we had a house for a number of years with a good one, but I never caught the brand of either.

I have a "the hot one" hanging electric heater. I only use it when I am out there (I don't leave it on). It's pretty old, and the fan bearings are getting loud, but it's been a pretty good heater. It's kind brutal on the electric bill though.

I also have the mushroom-top of an electric patio heater hanging over the area in front of my workbench. It fires heat down right where I stand.

On really cold days, I'll run them both.

I got a Farenheit (Marley) 7500 all mounted and wired. Been running for about a week.

So far so good. The mounting bracket is a bit rinky dink, and the fan wasn't screwed in well so it made serious racket at first. The thermostat function is a bit loud, but once running it's way quieter than a Hot Dawg gas heater. Doesn't cycle too much, and control seems to work well.. can also be turned off completely with the knob.
