I happen to have bought a Skat Blast 960 Pro sandblasting cabinet and this would apply to any brand really.

What the hell are they thinking? They fit one person of X height. Other than that, if you are short, you need a low step stool, or if you are tall, you need a church pew kneeler. LOL That is if you are blasting for any length of time.

For the money TP Tools/Skat Blast charges, their cabinets should have an adjustable set of legs. So I made my own that are fixed...for me.

I've never used a blast cabinet that was the right height. Im not extra tall or anything, but it seems like every shop or home garage just sets them on the ground and they are 6in to short. I get where you're coming from.

OK, so my Skat Blast is in my media blast room now to keep dust down in my basement. Look, it may be a cabinet, but having worked with a profession unit like an Empire, they all leak a bit.

So I am installing the light unit and vacuum hose ferrule.

Trying to install the vacuum hose ferrule on my media blast cabinet, and this with the fasteners in the other holes just started to allow this hole to align better. I ended up drilling the plastic holes in the vacuum hose ferrule slightly bigger.

Pardon the sarcasm and there is a reason why some people call me arrogant. I can't stand shoddy workmanship!

It sure would be nice if a manufacturer would use a template to drill out the holes where they should be.

A simple stainless steel template, so that it does not wear out during the drilling process, would be handy. One with a step in it to locate it in the hole and then holes drilled into the template at 45°, 135°, 225° and 315°.

I built my own blast cabinet so I made it to fit my height. When my Dad saw it he told me of a guy at the place where he used to work that constantly complained the cabinet he had to use was too low. The guy would take frequent breaks because his back hurt.

So, one day after work they raised his cabinet up about 3' ...

Same here, adding a sheet of plywood and wheels raised my blast cabinet to a nice height.

Exactly what I did as well - works great!

I take it both you and HMCFab9 both built a base around it using something like 2 x 2 angle iron to which the wheels were then attached.

I used 1.5 x 1.5 angle aluminum to stiffen the bottom edges and they were pop riveted to the sides of the base. The 2 x 8s were them screwed to them through the base and angle aluminum.

I made a base for my **** Blast out of some 1x2 tubing. I put a shelf on it to store my media supplies.

It's funny that this seems to be such an issue amongst people. I happen to have friends that have worked for the company in the past, these units were designed and engineered by a guy well over 6' tall. The reason for no extensions is just that... price as you mention, the cost involved in doing it that way would make pricing outrageous.
