Many posters have sometimes mentioned a "miracle" insulation product that exceeds the performance of recognized insulating products. While I have discouraged such use, I recently came across a great summary from various knowledgeable sources regarding this product. Fellow members may find this useful:

Re: Bubble insulation Prodex?

This site appears to be primarily concerned about under slab use. I agree and common sense suggests that the bubble thing for this application is useless.

I am however interested in feed back on this similar? product.

I am studying the Prodex line for use as an add-on to the roof line of my pole barn. It currently has the original insulation installed before the roof sheeting went on.
My intention is to seal up any air leaks up there with this product and hopefully add some R value. Note that there would be an air space between the Prodex and the original insulation.

Any thoughts from anyone that has used this or studied it to some extent?
Thanks

I have a "double bubble" insulation installed in my pole building because my builder has it in several building he's constructed as well as his own. I will say that during the summer months, it works very well. Even on the hottest day this past summer, the building was comfortable with a fan running. However for the winter it does leave room for improvement, but its not that bad. I have been working on tightening some of the air gaps around my roll up door and closing off some of my ridge vent and my heating ability has improved some.
In my situation when my pole building was erected, the fiberglass insulation wasn't that much better in terms of "R" value and my biggest concern was the heat in the building during the summer time.
Bubble insulation may be "snake oil" but it does work if its used properly, it may not be as efficient as a high "R" value fiberglass, however its better than nothing.
