Blast cabinet gun?

Which one should I get? I've only found a couple of different manufacturers. Skat is one I'm seriously considering. Anybody used one of these? I bought an empire cabinet but it didn't come with a gun. I'm using glass blasting media in this cabinet.

Thanks,
Griff

I have a Snap on gun and a cheap Campbell Hausfield one. I use a fine baking soda product and the cheap CH actually pulls more media. I only have about an hour experience blasting so I'm curious what others say.

I have 21 years experience with the Empire suction gun in the company glass bead cabinet and liked it, so I machined my own out of aluminum billet. A factory replacement gun was over $150 at the time. This gun has a 5/16" ceramic nozzle on it. I was doing some pieces today made out of galvanized sheet metal about the size of a computer hard drive, to get the galvanized finish off for painting, in about 2 minutes each. This cabinet was once run with a 2 stage 5 hp compressor, and it worked well then, too.

Any pics of the home made gun? I priced out some made in the US guns from a supplier and like you said $150+ so im using a cheap china pressure pot with a deadman in my cabinet and its not nearly as convienant as a suction gun setup that recycles the abrasive as its used.

Pictures will be a while in coming. Most of my larger equipment is stored in a semi van on other property I own about 20 miles away, and the larger blast cabinet is in the very front of the trailer. It will be the last thing out.

will have anything you need for your blast cabinet or take bberger up on his offer and you then can get any rebuild parts for it from TP Tools. I have used mine in my home built cabinet for many years. I learned a valuble lesson though turn the tip 1/4 turn after so many uses and keep rotating it so it wears even or you'll be replacing the power head

Here is simple one, no lathe was injured, need a tap for back tapping a bushing. All fittings. 2 different nozzles, one with common 1/4 and one with 1/8. I have used it for several things, sandblast, vacuum, even vacuum water from bottom of fuel tank where I could see in with light, pull water right off the bottom, outdoors of course.

Thanks for the replies! I think I'm going to go with the Skat gun. I'll probably take up Bberger on his offer.

Here's a scan of the MH-2 Empire gun I use at work, if anyone is interested. I'm scanning from a copy, so not sure how clear it will be.

Very similar to what i made for spraying undercoating on vehicles:beer: Never thought about trying it with abrasive.
