VBM went away quite a while ago and it is now just called Challenger Lift. Any VBM model lift would be aged well enough to be at the end of it's potential life expectancy. Unless of course, it was used only on an infrequent basis. It is a USA made lift and most parts are still available from aftermarket suppliers. The spirit lift is most likely a 7K model and that definitely lowers it's value in today's market where people want 9 and 10K capacity at a minimum.
Most aboveground lift that are used commercially (multiple times per day- everyday) will last approximately 12-15 years before major components begin to fail and wear out. The life span can be even shorter if the lift is abused. Shop wisely on used lifts because the price to replace a hydraulic cylinder or power unit maybe the same as the cost saving between new and used.
