Bostitch nails in a Hitachi nailer?

I was reading over the instruction manual for my new Hitachi nail gun when I found a warning about Be sure to use only the genuine Hitachi nails which seems like standard text but is there really a reason I couldn't use the Bostitch nails I have? The gun and nails are both 28° wire collated.

I kind of figured that but thought I should ask people in the "know". I currently have 2 cases of Bostitch nails that I was going to use with my friends Bostitch nailer for a project but his nailer died, thus I bought a NR90AF. I haven't had a chance to try it out yet though.

Don't do it, it will result in excessive wear on your gun and something called non-branded wearitis which apparently is also rampant in mixing Snap-on tools (I also see this with german tools) with any other tools.

In reality everyone else is right

Long as the nails are the same angle and collated the same they'll work fine. A friend borrowed my gun and bought cheap import nails that were a degree or two off and it constantly jammed (probably did some damage to the gun).

They look to be exactly the same. The Hitachi branded ones may be bostitch anyway since I doubt that Hitachi actually makes nails.
