Excellent, caper! Any chance you can scan that catalogue? If so, you could email me the pictures & I'd convert them to a PDF catalogue that could be hosted & distributed to whoever had an interest...

I know exactly where St. Claren & Dupont is; the next time I go by there I'll see if the building still exists (now that I know what it looked like).

the old gray bonney factory at Dupont and Landsdown was torn down in 1970 shortly after they built their new 105,000 sqare foot plant in Brampton (then "Bramalea"). Two highrise apt. buildings now occupy the old site in the N/E corner tho' the old warehouse building still stands to the east

The factory was torn down shortly after they moved to their new plant in Brampton in 1970 to make way for two large apartment buildings. The white block warehouse building still stands at the end of St. Clarens Ave and if you look closely at the top left corner on the south wall you can barely still make out "Gray Forgings and Stampings Ltd" which was the parent company name. The factory used to be where the two towers are.

Hi Billiam!

You are quite right!

I didn't see your last post when you posted it last June, but I had visited the site to do some research and figured out the same thing:

That apartment building (on the left with "West Tower") is one of the very most notorious dumps in the entire city of Toronto - home to many a crack ***** & dealer and the subject of repeated problems with the scumbag owner failing to complete repairs. In short, a complete slum!

Here's a "Then & Now" shot of the original 1912 factory just down the street:

Hey, that's a nice collection of knowledge and photography there! I knew someone who worked for the company for many years which is how I was aware the old factory had been torn down. Thanks for posting your research for everyone to enjoy. Bill

Most welcome, Bill, and thank you for contributing!

I presume your friend has passed on? If not, it would be very interesting to speak with/hear from someone who actually worked in the old factory...

Gray Bonney affiliation of the two companies ended in 1961 after it was decided to be no longer financially benefitial to Gray.

I have an old Grey Bonney wrench with a hook at one end and small point at the other end . The one end is wider and tappers to narrow at the other. It used to be my grandfather's when he was a mechanic . I could send pic .

Sounds like a pry bar... Does it have "C39" stamped on it?

I am pretty sure I have a 1931. Please let me know if you think differently. Can't find not 1 online. What could the value be?
