Closed a drawer last night and heard the sound of balls dropping. Not my balls but on one of the slides. Removed the drawer and the castrated slide and it's stamped "Taiwan". Geez....it's bad enough some of the boxes are made in Canada, but Taiwan? JK.

kra4107 bottom box. I don't know the year, but is a few years old. I have to move it to get to the back and see what is stamped on it.

I've used nothing but KRA boxes for the last 30+ years of wrenching and this is the first failure of any type with any of my 11 Snap-on KRA's. I won't hesitate to buy more when I need them. Neither of 2 Craftsmans have given my any trouble either.

I was just surpised to see a part on a Snap-on box was made in Taiwan.

yes sir the kra boxes will have slides that are not made in the use. I rarely have to fix any of them. it usually happens when the guys take the drawers out and put them in wrong. it doesnt hurt to shoot a little amsoil mp spray on them or something similar. especially if you are in a body shop.

KRA boxes are made in Canada. KRL boxes are made in Algona Iowa.
That doesn't appear to agree with what's on my KRA label...

maybe they put the wheels on it in the usa.
"Screwdriver" assemblies don't qualify as being called "Assembled in USA" under the FTC regs... To wit:

"A product that includes foreign components may be called "Assembled in USA" without qualification when its principal assembly takes place in the U.S. and the assembly is substantial. For the "assembly" claim to be valid, the product’s last "substantial transformation" also should have occurred in the U.S. That’s why a "screwdriver" assembly in the U.S. of foreign components into a final product at the end of the manufacturing process doesn’t usually qualify for the "Assembled in USA" claim."

In any case, the Canadian SO boxes I've seen said Canada on the label.

you a re right zrex every one of the kra boxes I have sold or had traded in say made in canada. Now these kra2411/2418/2496 etc may be a combo of us and canada? I will see if the tool box dept will answer that question.... they are so busy making boxes that it is hard to get a question to them

Good Lord, the Snap-On Snobbery even extends to "my Snap-On is better Snap-On than your Snap-On..." :lol_hitti

Dude its just a personal option. That was the first thing that broke on my first KRA box, I sold it and down-graded to an old taco wagon couldn't be happier. But if I buy a SO box and its labeled as USA or Canada I don't have a problem, its when they add the "other" parts.

I really dont understand some of these Tool companies, Does anyone seriously think there isnt enough profit margin in a $7000 dollar toolbox That Snap ON cant find some US made sliders? Or How bout Matco if your listening, your telling me that you cant find a comfort grip here in the states that would allow you to Stamp USA on that version? Its gonna be a sad day for your some of you guys that think These Corporations are being honest with you about the products there selling and where the parts are coming from. :headscrat
