Walked on the truck yesterday and noticed a new wire stripper/crimper on display. It's more compact. I like the design of the crimper and it would seem to have decent leverage crimping. Haven't used it yet but I like the design of it.

It does not say USA on it but the display box they where in said made in USA.

Not much info here

Looks interesting. I like the smaller design also. But I think I will still stick with my ratcheting crimper with changeable dies!

SO.com says none in stock. Any idea on backorder time for delivery?

Also, what guages of wire are on the strip side?

I prefer to have the strippers on the other side of the joint. I wouldn't mind trying them anyway, but it kind of looks like its 22 - 16. If thats the case they wouldn't get used too often.

It looks like a decent tool if it has a cutter at the tip.I don't use wire strippers, just use the cutter part to strip the wire.I could never understand why manufacturers put crimpers and strippers behind the hinge.Very ackward to use them in most tight areas on cars and trucks since most times you only have a very short wire to splice on to.

these are smaller for the tighter areas. they are not meant to completely replace the strippers you already use. stereo shops / boat installs will benefit from these for sure.

too much money for me unless they use a die and stamp snap on into it so i know it is a snap on 30 years from now

I don't like having the stripper holes behind the hinge joint.
I had a pair of klein stripper pliers like that and they can pinch you when you put it back in your tool belt.
Just make sure the jaws are closed before you slide them in your pouch, if your skin gets caught in the stripper holes, the pain is something else.
Otherwise they look good for tight spaces.

I've got the middle one pictured, which was on sale for about 20% off (I think it was older stock?) -- anyway this new model looks great.

well I have had needle nose that the name wore off, but you can tell most of the time just by the feel of the tool. When I send them in for warranty snap on has never sent anything like that back to me. Also unless someone copies the design then you are safe. I have not turned anyone down for an older tool that was not marked. I know the other dealers in town ( non snap on dealers ) will not warranty stuff if it does not have proper markings.

My snap on guy showed me these when I came on the truck yesterday. I was like ehh but I did some electrical work at the shop today and saw the need.

the little cutter in the back of the head is VERY VERY sharp. you barely touch something and it cuts right through it. I may order more before I start showing these things around...

here ya go boys....
this is from the product manager himself I asked if we made these and here is the response.

"Shaun,

Yes it was designed by our pliers engineer and our marketing group here in Kenosha but the pliers are made in our Milwaukee plant. It is exclusive to Snap-on. We cannot keep them in stock. The sales so far have far exceeded our expectations.

Thanks,
Scott "

he is right about stock levels. snap on has been wiped out on stock. I need about 70 pair of them now.
