I have been collecting these FREE cabinets for about 13 months now (yes FREE, I found a place that manufactures test equipment and uses these as the base) They are about 10-15 years old, but made of 0.090 steel, sturdy and heavy. When the test equipment become obsolete, it is sent back and placed into the trash...this is when I come in LOL.

We clean them up, stack/bolt them together, and give them a fresh coat of paint. They even have casters on them!!!

Anyway, I wanted to share(brag) this to give others some ideas too.

What are the dimensions? Seems like they are a little short to fit most things, no?

The size is 16h x 26d x 34w, the door is 12in tall. They are not the storage solution to all things in the shop, but a great start with an awesome price.

We made this corner cabinet to fill that space left behind when placing these together in the back corner. The doors here are large to help hold those BIGGER items. This was also made from 100% scrap material.

Wow! Let me first say, You ****! (j/k) Free cabinets?!? I'm totally jealous! :)

Seriously though, that corner one is a great match for the others. Ditto on the cool color. I'm planning to do mine in red as well. Sweet deal, chop!

The paint is “Safety Red” Oil Based, we just rolled it on. After 2 coats it looks great.

We are using these cabinets for work benches too. The tops are made of 2 layers of 3/4 plywood for a sturdy 1.5in top that is then wrapped with SS. I'll post more picks when we get done with this phase.

I hate you! Those look amazing! Wonder how that paint would hold up if I decided to use it to paint the frame on my project car? HMMM

Top effort, I imagine you have one cabinet full of castor wheel or are selling them on eBay. Rearranging your garage must be a breeze, just unlock the wheels and move them around.

I have three steel card file draws (union membership cards, before computers took over) that stand about 4ft high a couple office steel cabinets and a filing cabinet. White has been my colour of choice as my garages are often small and dark. I doubted the usefulness of the filing cabinet but it has proved great for power tools (grinder saw etc).

They look great as workbenches. They look like a good size for storing paint cans, etc., underneath.

I would probably add a toe kick to the bottom. It's amazing how a 2" space can save your back.

Hospitals are also a good source for very high end SS cabinets and storage systems. ;)

Finally finished up the work bench and storage area for the attached garage this weekend. BTW, that flag was on the Illinois State Capital building for a day(they put a new one each day)
