It was a pretty good day for me. The mail man and the UPS guy dropped off some stuff I bought from members on here:

From USMC NOMA, the two GearWrench 72 Tooth thumbwheel ratchets I bought off of him (good deal, fast shipper, great packaging):

They fit right in with the rest of my GearWrench ratchets:bounce:

Next, from www.widgetsupply.com, an assortment of USA made drills and taps by Vermont American. Special thanks to GJ Member IndustrialMechanic for posting the link to these:

http://www.widgetsupply.com/page/WS/CTGY/tap-die

I thought $12.97 was a pretty good deal for them

Next, from ToolTopia; an Ingersoll-Rand 2115TiMax, some Grey Pneumatic 3/8 and 1/4 inch impact sockets! I've been saving the money I've made at my part time job and I'm stoked to get these:

Ingersoll-Rand 2115TiMax 3/8 Impact Wrench:

Grey Pneumatic 9771 71 Pc. 1/4" Drive Master Impact Socket Set. This set contains every 1/4" impact socket set they make. Very nice set of sockets. It compliments my Ingersoll Rand 2101K 1/4" impact nicely:

Next is a set of Grey Pneumatic 3/8" Drive Metric and SAE Hex Impact Driver Set:

Next is Grey Pneumatic SAE standard and deep lenght 3/8" Impact sockets

As well as metric Grey Pneumatic standard and deep lenght 3/8" Impact sockets

I think next I'm going to invest in some Mechanics Time Savers Lock-A-Socket Rails. I need to get these boxes out of my socket drawer:

This was another great buying experience from www.tooltopia.com. I ordered this stuff on Monday, March 29. It came today, Wednesday, March 31. Not bad for free shipping. It helps that these items shipped from Tool Topia's Doraville, Georgia distribution center, which is about an hour south of me. The only thing that didn't come today was the set of 3/8 impact extensions I ordered. According to the tracking info provided by Tool Topia, it shipped from Cleveland, Ohio and is scheduled to arrive tomorrow. Still, not bad for free shipping...

So what did this all cost you? A couple of nights on the couch? :)

It was $641.38 for everything I got from ToolTopia.

SWMBO hasn't seen it. I put it all away before she got home from work. I have a part-time security gig I work on Saturday nights that pays my tool money. I've been socking it away for a couple of months. Next I'll start saving for the socket rails before I start saving for all the 1/2" impact stuff...

Check the packaging on the Vermont American stuff, everything new is made in China.

So how thin are the 1/4 drive impact sockets compared to chrome ones? I really really like that set!

The taps and bits are marked "USA". I took a pic and attached it, but my camera is a hunk-o-****. They are marked as "Made In The USA"

What do you use 1/4" impact sockets on? :headscrat

I didn't even know they made them.

I mainly tinker with ATVs and motorcycles. I recently did some work on a Honda Shadow and the side case had about 14 8mm bolts holding it on. The impact zips 'em right off. I try to use the correct tool whenever possible and I didn't want to put my chrome Craftsman sockets on the impact, even if it just the 1/4". I suppose you could use a rechargeable impact but the IR 2101 never needs recharging. Its one of those tools that when you use it you'll find more uses for it...

I compared a 10MM impact socet from the 1/4 inch set to a 6 point Craftsman socket. The GP is noticibly thicker and the contact points where the socket grips the fastner is thicker. Going by "feel", the impact socket feels heavier. Of course they are made out of "top quality Chrome-Molybdenum alloy steel".

I don't have a micrometer or a set of digital balances, or I would tell you exactly how much bigger the impact socket is. I tried to take a couple of photos, but my camera *****. Its dying and putting a pink tint to everything...

Wow, that's a load of GP. Do you have any of their 72 tooth ratchets? I've been wanting one of those but they seem to be rare.

I do not, but they do look like cool ratchets:

Great stuff, 1/4" impacts are fantastic for motorcycle work. They're almost kind of a necessity for unscrewing damper rods on conventional fork legs.

I have never seen that type of drive design before. Are all GP impact socket walls rounded like that, as opposed to the cutout corners & flat socket wall design used by most manufacturers (e.g. SO's flank drive)?

Nice looking stuff, makes me wish I would have looked at that instead of the snap on 1/4 set, but it was buy one get one free.... Nice, do you like the grey stuff better than the genius or are they about the same?

I think next I'm going to invest in some Mechanics Time Savers Lock-A-Socket Rails.

Make sure you shop around for pricing. At sears they are like $20 each.

If you shop around, you can find the ones without the magnetic backing, and I think it's like only $10 each.

I think they have an off-brand, not MTS, but if you search for the part numbers they are similar.

I was going to get 3, but shipping killed the deal. For the number of sockets you have, it would probably be worthwhile. They are very sturdy and will hold up heavy impact sockets nicely.

Nice tool haul there. Let use know how you like that 2115. I am seriously thinking of buying one.

I have two IR2115's. I used the **** out of them... Has the power of a 1/2 in the body of a 3/8's. Haven't had any issues with them after 4.5 yrs of daily use. I'd buy another in a hearty beat.

Its only like that on the 1/4" stuff. I stuck a couple of bolts into the socket to see how it grips. The rounded part seems to grip the fasteners in the middle instead of near the corner. They seem to really grip the bolts.

I haven't seen any of the Genius stuff in person. I settled on Gray because a buddy of mine had a set and I liked them. From what I've seen so far, and from using using his, I think they are a great value for the money.

I played around with it some tonight and it seems to have a heck of a lot of power for a 3/8". I think I'm going to be very happy with it.

You're right about Sears. The rebranded Craftsman ones were $20 each at my local sears. That would be way too much. ToolTopia has them for a lot cheaper.
