Can I put an 80 tooth kit into an old 20 tooth rachet? I have a either a F712 or S712. I can't rember which it is. It's at work.

It'd be nice if it worked. The 20 tooth is nice and I got it cheap so I really can't complain but it just isn't an 80 tooth. It will get used regardless of how many teeth it has. Is an 80 tooth gear larger? I would think it would be.

I haven't used it yet so not too sure of how it will feel. It does move in both directions but just haven't used it yet. I'll find something to use it on Monday. 30 tooth will be an improvement for sure. Ran my 80 tooth in my fingers and lauged when I did the same with teh 20 tooth. Again, good price old piece so I can't complain.

Whats wrong with 20 teeth?
In My mind nothing as long as your not working in a extreme confined area. I prefer the feel and sound of a good ole Big Swinging ratchet.

The dual 80 internals are substantially different than the older series (936 in this case).

Snap on dealers used to put torque wrench ratchet kits in the standard ratchets if you want them alittle better as they were 30 or 32 teeth

If it is the 3/8" drive ( F ) you can put a 30T in it if it is a 1/2" drive ( S ) you can go to 32T in the 700 series pear head ratchets.
The internals look similar to the 936 ratchet pictured but with less teeth.
All the 900 series were 36T for all 3 drive sizes .
The 800 series were 30T for 1/4" and 3/8" drive and 32T for 1/2" drive.
The 700 series were 20T or 30T for 1/4" and 3/8" drive and 24T or 32T for 1/2" drive.
The only reason the 700 series can be changed is because Snap On offered several tooth options for those ratchets.
Only the 700 series can be changed ,the 800 and 900 series can not be changed.
The 20T ratchets work fine and have very little ratcheting resistance compared to some others.
I find no need to change them as they are fine unless in a very confined area.

all 700 kits are now upgraded to 30 teeth. If I try to order the 20 tooth kit it auto sepercedes to the 30 tooth....
tm70b is a lot better with the new kit.
