New to me a CL find. KRM 54 dated 1979. My first Snap On box!!!
I can't close the bottom drawer all the way. It kinda bounces back open.
Any ideas?
I also need a set a keys. I guess I'll call SO and see what they can do.

Looks to be in very nice shape, also looks real familiar.

Twice now on tool boxes with drawer problems similar to yours, the stuck tool was one of those flexible pick up tools, let us know what you find, hopefully something better.

What do I do with the hacksaw blade?
Are there little tabs on the slides I need to release?

Yep. That's the one. Not a dent on it and a tiny bit of surface rust on it.
Debating on repainting it......if I can ever get the drawers out.

it is not too hard if you have the right tool...
I have customers that call me bitching up a storm about their piece of **** snap on tool box that has only one drawer that will not lock or shut properly. I tell them to remove the drawer and get the **** out from behind it. they flip out and when I get there at my regular time I pull the drawer out and retrieve their **** and shut it and lock it.
Happens at least once a month. usually it is a bag pf parts or gaskets/seals that are wrapped in plastic

Yep...there's always a reason why that drawer won't shut! :lol_hitti

Just found out from SO that they did not manufacture it.
Apparently the "M" in KRM means it was manufactured by Metal Box and Cabinet corp. in Chicago.
SO does not have any parts for the box. It looks like all I need is a lock for it. This one has no keys.

Did you get the drawer problem figured out? On the krm series the top drawer locks all the other drawers. If your top draw is closed all the way with the other drawers open then you'll have to reset the lock rod. Open all the drawers and close them one by one starting with the bottom drawer.

I did get it all figured out. It was what TheGrooveking described.
Once the weather gets warmer here, I'll finish painting it. It's just primed right now.

my guess is the lock is not fully turned to the open position.

its kind of like those craftsman boxes that you have to open the top of the box first before you can open any of the drawers. if yours is like that, push back further on the lid and it might raise the locking bar.

very nice box by the way. i am looking for a small one like that
