Well almost, some things left to finish up but the heavy work is finished. I took out kitchen cabinets I had along one wall and replaced them with two more Lista cabinets and three Tennsco 24 x 36 x 78 high lockable storage cabinets. I now have 20' of 1 3/4 maple butcher block top work area.

The placement was going to leave me with a dead corner where the two tops meet. I came up with a good solution, I got another section of butch top and made two drawers well there are really trays. I mounted them to the wall and to plywood bolted to the end of the Lista cabinet. Each tray is 31" deep and 24" wide, I mounted the lowest one high enough to clear my floor jack with the handle removed. The trays will hold my jack-stands, a transmission jack I have and the top one will have space for all of the cordless chargers I have.

I made space for my computer and printer, and there is room for the required audio equipment. I have to figure what else I want on the peg boards above the new bench and then arrange the drawers, after that I will replace the old T12 light fixtures with newer T8s.

I have a six piece Mobil gas station sign I will mount above the older workbench. I intend to run some pipe to have compresses air at a couple of places on the pegboards above the workbench.

Jack.....I think you have met your match....

Great job.....and I like the corner storage as well.....in fact, I like the over all look and feel.....no waisted space....

I'm sure everyone agrees....you tend to work better and quicker when it's all organized like that.

Thanks, that's what I was aiming for, stuff falls to hand, everything has an orderly spot and is easy to access. Trouble is getting the wife to put something back after she takes it out to use.

I like to the boxes under the bench. What kind are they?

EDIT: also, where did you get the butcher block counter tops at?

The cabinets are made by Lista, they make many different sizes and offer all kinds of drawer options. The top on the bench with three cabinets was purchased from McMaster Carr. I drove to their NJ distrubution center and picked it up to save freight.

The tubing from the evaporators to condensors for my home's AC run along the wall behind that bench. Due to that it stands off that wall by about four inches. I purchased a 36" deep top and once the cabinets were in posotion, I ripped off the extra width of the top.

The other top came with the package I bought from Griots, they had a 15% off sale which effectively covered freight charges. The top they supply is not as high a quality as the McMaster top is. The wood does not appear to as high a quality, more knots and imperfections and it was not nearly as heavy. The other top was so heavy I had trouble tipping and moving it. The top supplied with the new cabinets was not light, but using a foot stool for one end, I was able to lift it up and onto the cabinets. No way would I have been able to do that with the other top.

Both tops are 10' in length, and 1 3/4 thick, the McMaster top has a square edge, the Griots top has a 1 /4 round, I much perfer the square edge.

very awesome. I'm starting to plan something similar but I'm sure it won't be of that caliber. Lots of nice ideas for me though, thanks.

Wow, nicely organized and functional. I have a couple more small projects to handle before I can get to my garage. This is inspring to say the least.

Best use of space in a corner I've seen since Jack's! You CA boys are putting the rest of us to shame!

That's a sweet setup. How did you move the heavy Lista cabinets into place and did you have any problems with the RaceDeck tiles scraping or shifting during the process?
