SK Hand Tool files Ch. 11 bankruptcy
By PTEN staff

On June 29, SK Hand Tool Corp. of Chicago filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Illinois Eastern Division; the case, No. 10-28882, was assigned to Judge Eugene R. Wedoff.

The filing states that SK has been negotiating a purchase agreement with Ideal Industries, that the bankruptcy is expected to assist regarding SK’s debt load of more than $11.5 million.

I've got a good friend that had his house burn down about a year ago. It included his and his Dad's collection of S&K tools. He called the local S&K dealer last week and was told that they would sell him all that he wanted from their local stock. They would not order anything for him since they did not know what was going to happen to the coompany.

He didn't ask about warranty stuff.

My local SK dealer warrantied a ratchet for me last week by putting a kit in it. I don't know if he will get reimbursed for the kit or not though.

Most sellers are selling all SK inventory. I got a new Sears catalog and it is loaded with Tors Plus and allen head sockets. Is Craftsman going to purchase the Torx and Allen socket line?

Got behind an SK/Facom/Gearwrench truck today at lunch -- first one I can recall ever seeing. It was one of those Mercedes.... errr.... Dodge... errr.... Freightliner Sprint vans.

Not really relevant, just thought it was interesting....
