Hey all,
I got this torque wrench about 25 yrs ago. It was purchased for one specific job, so I got to keep it.
Anyway it's been used maybe 20 times over the years. Went to use it on a project, and found no ratchet'ee. Took it apart to find what you see below.
So I think, old, USA, good name, "Warranty". Make a call to S.C. "yup she's got a 1 year warranty"
But we got a repair kit--$65.00---:spit:
It's just a 36 tooth double pawl, no gold,no diamonds, WHAT?????

Perhaps I'll make one out of "Mighty Putty" (Billy would be proud, god rest his soul).

Then again; the authorized flat rate repair from UTICA/COOPER TOOLS @ $85 is looking pretty good considering the price of the repair kit itself! This maybe the best deal going! Maybe give them a call and see what the repair/calibration would be: Contact Utica Customer Service at (800) 845-5629 Good luck and keep us posted on what you end up doing! :)

Cooper was no help, other than telling me to buy the kit that cost more than what I paid for the torque wrench when it was new.

There are actually several different kits, and some changed over the years. I am off to work, but will look at your pics closer later. I think I still have a pawl. What is your model, drive size, and torque range.

i believe it should still function fine if you reassemble the guts with the one working pawl.

It needs the other to back up the spring&detent pin.

First I want to say Thanks for ALL the replies:thumbup:

I have disassembled all the round head guys I have, only 1 close and it is a single pawl.
But this is the route I want to take, Your right it's a COMMON design. Just gotta find the right size. If not I'll make a blank and use One pawl.
I'm attaching a pic with dim's.
All in inches, the top number is actual, the bottom number is if you put it on one of them sticks with lines and numbers:headscrat.

I have a Utica TW repair kit, two pawls in 3/8". Maybe it will work?

But for some unforeseen fridgadrator problems (att. photo) the kit is back burnered for a bit.
So what I'm going to do in the mean time, is (attempt) to make a blank for the broken pawl.
I'll post photos, so all the toolroom guys can have a grin at my hackaneese:bounce:

Well I went ahead and cobbled up a blank this evening.
I made it out of 6061 3/8 square alum. I was going to use some keystock, but none to be had here.
Milled it on the lathe down to 1/4" thick (the quick change tool post gives a little x-axis), cut it to length (a little short on one end), clamped it into the pawl body, drilled the 1/8" pivot hole (this don't pivot tho), then the 19/64" center hole. Done in a drill press.
Next problem, 3/8 square drive and a three jaw chuck. Slip it on a 10mm hf socket, slam that live center home, good to go.
All but the last 25 thou. was cut with hss, then I switched over to the carbide indexable (i read in the funny papers carbide does not like interrupted cuts, meaning like the head of a bolt, wham,wham,wham).
Hell I'm new to this machinin' stuff, always had the toolroom to take it to, NO MORE.
Lubed it up,assembled it, sounds better than ever.
Might not need that kit, B-man. We'll see, maybe I could put that cash towards a cross slide vise for the drill press (I'm POOR):(

Can you remove the socket head from the torque wrench and cut down a ratchet to work in its place?

Don't need to Rickster.
With the blank & single pawl, she ratchets for. and rev PERFECT.
And thinking about it 150in. lbs is ONLY 12.5ft.lbs!
I think it'll be fine as is.
At least 'till someone throws a 6ft cheater on it:lol_hitti.

I was referring to welding the torque wrench head rather than dealing with UTICA repair parts. Great tool but their support not so much.
