Just picked up a set of these for $64.00 at OReilly's. One of the last Auto parts stores around me that sell USA Made Tools.

I Decided to go with the known quantity.

I called O'Reilly's at 1245 pm, they do not stock these. However they said that it could be from the distribution center to the store by 4pm. I was there at 4:05.

One thing I have noticed at all OReilly auto parts stores. The Service is exceptional.


When he put the set in front of me it was grimy and dirty, but each socket was stamped with USA! and in excellent condition. Truly, I could care less about the grease and grime.

I asked why it was grimy and all. The guy there said it was part of a tool loan program and only 8 were left at the warehouse. If I wanted to, In the future I could return it and get a full refund. I said "NOT A CHANCE". These are only going to be replaced with Chinese made ****.

Glad I got what is left. Since I did price S-K and Snap on, I see that if I am going to buy quality, I will have to pay more for it. But I think I got these for a very good deal.

There's something neat about finding old grimey USA made tools at an auto parts store... there's a store like that near me.

They are 30, 32, 34 and 36mm.

As for other stores they are with, I don't know. They are Northern based I think. They are currently just moving South of the Mason-Dixon line.

Not a bad buy.. I've got this "set" in mostly Matco but I my 32mm is a Snap-On. I didn't get a purty carrying case though ;) haha.

I do find your mention of exceptional service outside my realm of experience at O'Reilly. The best example is probably the time I walked in there and asked for a 20mm freeze plug and the kid went to the back of the parts isles (behind the counter) and pulled out a dusty box of misc ****. Tossed it on the counter and said.. "see if you can find what you need" then walked off to go help someone else. I rarely see the inside of a Oreilly since then. Advance is a close second...although at either one if you know someone or are a known customer I notice they give you better service. Napa/Carquest have always been upstanding in service for me though.

Back to the subject though... nice set of sockets. What size did you need?

I needed a 36mm to work on my sister's car. Bought a Cheap a$$ AMPRO socket for over $20 because I needed it NOW!. Left it for my 15 yo nephew in case he would ever need it.

Needed another 36mm recently.

I was wondering about those KD sets that thetoolwarehouse.net was selling. 46$ or so for the entire set gave me the impression that these were from taiwan.

i had mac tools axle nut sockets set (it is rebadge) but they said if it break then it get replacement through mac tool dealer. but they said 99.99 dollars for set (29, 30, 32, 34, 35, 36, 38).

KD was rolled into Armstrong, I believe along with Allen. I've seen SEVERAL things in the few months, that looks like KD (Gearwrench), is ALL becoming offshore. So unless you find old stock, I would consider them an import from here on out.

Yeah, I bought a KD set of interiorpanel pliers and I was sure tah tthey were USA made.... until they arrived and said "Taiwan" right on them. :(

i dont see any cornwell around indianapolis. as most people bought lot of snap on, mac tools, and matco tools in indianapolis.

i had cornwell long ball tip sae hex sockets set as 20 dollars in ebay. it is useful for my harley sportster.
