I used to see them come into Sears once in a blue moon (in the 7 years I was there I may have seen 1 or maybe none!); I'm thinking 1960's. They had a unique type of selector and seemed to hold up pretty well; ebay would be a good source for these. The part # for them is "-v-44976". I wouldn't recommend getting one for day to day use; as the heads kits are not made anymore and they are obsolete. If and when they broke; you would be SOL, unless you were able to cobble together used parts or by some miracle, found a NOS rebuild kit somewhere.

Here is a thread with pics: http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=38113

There are a number of companies that make a long handle 1/2" drive ratchet; you probably could find a used Proto such as a 17" or so, long one for a reasonable price... I particularly like my Snap-On.

Here are some on ebay: http://shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=lo...ratchet&_osacat=0&_trksid=p3286.c0.m270.l1313

You might post a "wanted" in the classifieds; I'm sure a number of people have one to sell... good luck! :)
