I got this in a box of tools at the flea market this weekend and in all of my searches on the internet I can not find any reference to it. It has a 1964 date code on it and it is 16mm but no one seems to have any information on it. How early did Snap On start producing metric tools? It might be really common I just can't find any information about it.

Looks like an OEXM-16. I guess they switched the part # format some time after 1964. None of my old script metrics have date codes but they're all flank drive which wasn't granted a patent until 1966. They don't have patent pending on them so they're all likely to be 1966 or later.

Not sure about SO but MAC's 1963 catalog has a limited selection of metric and 1951 has none. I guess SO would've introduced metric in that time window if not earlier.

That makes sense that they would be introducing them at around the same time frame. I wish I could have found the entire set but I very rarely do when I buy wrenches at yard sales and flea markets. How one snap on wrench ends up in a pile of Chinese junk at the bottom of a box I will never know.
