Since you showed me yours it's only fair I show you mine.

A bit of my background 1st. I used to work on my trucks and mc's a lot in the 70's but a job change had me store everything on my brother's farm for the last 25 years only so all my tools could disappear in my absence. 25 years later I've had a mid life crisis and realized all my physiological problems stem from the fact I haven't had a workbench with vise for all this time. Nowhere to tinker. I've been doing something about it now for the last 2 years. I dragged a kitchen counter out to the tiny 8'X20' garage and mounted too big a vise on it. I am slowly recovering from my depression by "tooling up" and getting dirty again.

Thought I'd share a few recent acquisitions with you as an offering. The adjustable wrench I got at a garage sale. It has a floating middle jaw to allow a flat face or a toothed face to the wrench. It has a quick adjustment action for fast settings. It is a #20/380. I thought it would be handy for those BIG nuts on mc's that you don't have a proper wrench for. It was also so cool I had to have it. Cost was $10.00 with no dickering.

The 2nd one is a 3/8 drive 100 ft lb Williams torque wrench I bought at a swap meet for $30.00. Both tools are 15" long.

Welcome to the GJ 2oolhound. That adjustable wrench is pretty cool and made even better by the 10 buck price tag. Not having a work space is very frustrating. Good for you on making space for yourself. There is lots to be gained from being a member here. Just a little warning though , expect a sudden increase in visits to garage sales , pawn shops , auctions , estate sales , scrap yards , dumpsters , hardware/building supply stores , and late nights early mornings on the forum !

Welcome! Working with your hands once again; can be cathartic and get your mind off of things in your life.... especially depressing things! Your not alone... it can and will take time... connecting with others (like here) with similar interests DOES HELP! :) Be careful, however... the tool addiction maybe another thing that is added to your psychiatrists things that you have to talk about, LOL! Ask me how I know! Welcome, hang in there! :)

Thanks for the heads up although I've been browsing this site for a while already so it's been rubbing off for a while now. and thanks for all the extra leads!

well to the board

by mc do you mean motor carriage or some sort of bus/rv?

By "mc" I mean motorcycle. My Nortons (a 72 and 74 commandos)did survive storage on my brothers farm for 25 years but I rescued them just in time. They had moved them outside against the wall and UNDER THE FRIGGIN EAVES! However they were well wrapped in poly and I had coated everything rustable in grease and oily rags well enough that there isn't much damage even after 25 years.

Very cool adjustable & a sweet $10 deal!

Is it marked "West Germany"?

The wrench doesn't say "west Germany" or anything other than the casting in the photo. It does seem to be well designed and built of quality steel though. I'm wondering if the hole in the end of the handle may of had a rectangular shackle that you could swing up over the lever to hold it down during storage in the tool box. It always springs up like in the photos. There is no notch on the lever handle where such a piece would catch though and I think for that to work, both the main handle and the lever should be the same length. I'm tempted to add one but it would be a shame to alter the wrench in any way.

Now you've done it. You have TWO Nortons !!?!?! You lucky rat *******!!! I had a 1962 Atlas that for years sat awaiting an expensive restoration I could never afford. Finally had to turn loose of it. It makes me sick every time I see a British bike. I've started watching 'Cafe Racer' on the HD Network from Direct TV. Man I want my Atlas back.

Mine are waiting that expensive restoration also. I hope I get the time to go ahead this spring. I have a few pressing matters to deal with 1st but I can see daylight at the end of the tunnel. I know once I get started there'll be no looking back.
After 25 years absence it was nice to learn they are thriving healthily around the world and parts are readily available.
