This is my modest little garage. I started researching products and ideas last summer. Then I found this place!!!
Anyway, this is a 22'x22' attached garage. It isn't really big enough for a great workshop area or a hang out space, but for me it is just right. We have a tractor barn for doing the really dirty work and a shed to store the large gardening stuff, so this is really just for parking and detailing or a quick oil change or mod.
I will hopefully start phase 2 soon. Phase 2 really is converting the side storage room into a grill kitchen for my husband as well as cutting into the side wall to add some storage in the dead space under the stairs.
Thanks to everyone here for answering my endless newbie, girlie questions :bounce:

Thanks guys! It was really a blast to work on, I wish I had another garage to start on.
The cabinets are Ultimate brand, I got them online, but Walmart now carries them apparently.
TV and sound system are on the list. I need to find a good spot for them and get satellite run out there.

Looks GREAT, one question though...you decide against the mini-split heat-pump for now?
Organized space can really make a 'small' garage look bigger, that's for sure!

How long have you been working on the garage Annette? I don't remember any progress pics, or did I miss them?

I'm waiting on the mini-split for now. I'd rather finish the sideroom first so I'll have to wait on the mini-split until cash flow improves.
I got the floor tiles just before Christmas so I started on the actual work over the holidays. I posted a thread on the floor when I got it done, but haven't done any since because it looked so discombobulated!
The hardest part (aside from the painting and that's not hard, just tedious) was putting up the storage hoists. We had an issue that the back beam that we were screwing into ended up having metal plates on it and I kept snapping the bolts off!! I had to wait until my husband had some time and he could use the hammer drill to put those up for me, so I had both hoists partially assembled and in pieces on the floor for weeks. Once those were done the rest just flew by.

Are you going on the scavenger hunt with AtlantaMinis this weekend?

We were going to go, but something came up. If we can get out of it, we may show up.
It sounds like fun.

You garage looks killer!
nice work of available space.

Holy Moly! What a transformation, excellent work and organization. I thought my garage was clean!!!

Where did you get those wall mount plate things, seems you have everything from lawn rakes to cabinets mounted on them. I need something like that for just the same purpose if you don't mind sharing. Is that a part of the ultimate system as well?

weblink or instore?

thetastelingers, No, I'll probably miss the scavenger hunt this weekend. I spent all last weekend at Road Atlanta, so need to stay home this weekend. I may show up for the dinner if I can. Yes, Sears has those cabinets, too, but I think they are a better price at Walmart.
quarterstang86, the wall storage system is by Storewall. It is a fabulous product. I really like the ability to move the hooks as needed. If you can see, the wall cabinets are also hung on the Storewall with brackets that they have available, so I can move those if I need to as well.
I ended up buying enough that I am now a dealer, so if you are anywhere near me I can get you some at a good price (cost plus shipping and a bit). Otherwise, do a search for Storewall. This company seems to have a decent price.

BoCRon, I just noticed something. Are those cabinets actually mounted on to that wall track system or just screwed in on it?

skullhead, yes the cabinets are on the track system. You can order brackets from the cabinet company that match up to the Storewall system. The brackets were all a bright galvanized metal so I painted them black to hide them a bit, guess it worked! The cabinets can slide side to side or just lift off and be moved to another wall. You can kind of see the bracket in the following pic, see the upper part of the cabinet on the wall.
EPSN1163.jpg

Oh, and yes, my husband is enjoying the outcome. I think he is still kind of baffled that I went this far LOL.

Nice Garage! Well done. I have to ask though, what do you mean by "grill kitchen"? An indoor grill? Dedicated Grill Prep area?

As an avid Griller and Q'er (low and slow w/smoke, the only real BBQ) who goes year round (from Q'ing in an official blizzard to grillin @ 105+degrees) I'm very curious.

We have a large pull-behind smoker/grill that gets used year-round. I am putting a small kitchen along one wall of the current storage room. We will also be cutting a 2 doors into that room. One to the outside and one into the laundry room. We are also going to build an awning of some sort from the house out over the little brick area (trashcans will be gone) so DH can grill in bad weather if he'd like.
I have a number of reasons for this-
1. Ease of use, so hubby can have a sink and a place to store all the large grill tools, skillets. It will be much quicker to walk straight through the laundry room.
2. We can keep garage doors closed and hopefully eliminate the smoke and the odor from getting in the cars and into the house.
3. DH won't have to carry heavy platters right past my car!!!

EPSN0979.jpg

As you can see from the plan we will be moving our extra fridge and stand-up freezer into this room as well, this way DH can bring meat directly from the car into this room, vacuum seal or prepare it and put in the fridge or freezer. No more traipsing through the house with drippy meat packages!

Wow Annette that came out very nice. Where did you find the above door lift, or is that something you created yourself?

The above door lift is made by Racor (they do the bike lifts, etc). I found it on ebay by searching for heavy duty lift (I think). My original thought was to use one to hoist my trailer up to the ceiling, the lift will hold 250lbs. After all was said and done I decided to store the trailer in our tractor barn and use the lift for storage as intended.

Well, the pics are from the day I finished the final touches, so it looks pretty spiffy.
I went to Road Atlanta right after, so of course made a big mess of it when I got home and "de-tracked". But I must say the floor did clean up pretty easily and putting everything away was easy since I had dedicated spots for everything.

Annette, great job! I live just north of you in ******* and was thinking about slatwall, but may be open to storewall as well. Have you looked at slatwall? Do you happen to know the difference between weight loads, etc.? I may be interested.

Thanks, Travis

The reason I went with Storewall is because it has a bigger selection of possible accessories. You can use the Schulte brand stuff as well as a bunch of the hooks and shelves on the TAG site. I also like the brackets for hanging the cabinets, very sturdy. I also like that the Storewall is a PVC product all the way through so you can absolutely soak it and it doesn't matter. From what I understand the slatwall is particle board covered with a laminate of some sort so hanging dripping wet wash mits or whatever may not be a good idea.
My husband is using the Storewall in his shop to hang brackets and store wood, very sturdy and easy to do.

I'm actually local to you: I live in Covington GA but work in Atlanta. :) Whose product did you use to mount the Ultimate cabinets securely? I guess what I'm asking is for any missing pieces I might need to do something simular to you. I found this website for the cabinets: http://www.jnkproducts.com/ultimate-title.htm

I have a serious need for getting my garage setup in an efficient manor so I can start working out there, since buying the house I haven't even brought over my tools from the parents house yet I've just coated the floor with Griots epoxy for ease of cleaning that's it! :(

You can email me direct: Richard

that is how you get spam.
I reccomend using this method of email address on the internet.

example : richard at gmail dot com

that way the bots that go looking for email addresses do not recognize the above as an email address. there is no at symbol.

Just FYI:)

Annette,

I think you've convinced me to go with StoreWall, opposed to Slatwall. Can you send me a PM w/ some pricing? I'm interested in the 8' lengths in the weathered grey color.

I've been looking at the Ulti Mate garage cabinets. I can get them locally at Sears. I can't find them on Walmart's web site. Do they still carry them? Any idea how I can get a price list or ordering info from them?

Annette, I'm anxious to hear how the floor holds up for you. I may have missed it but what brand did you go with?

Great job and nice documentation! Please keep the pics coming through the rest of your additions.

Very nice. What type of floor tile is that? Do you mind sharing the cost of the floor tile? My garage is 24 x 24 so it would give me an idea of cost.
