Hi ,
based on your description your looking for the Mac MB1710 PREMIER TOP CHEST

Here are a few specs for you on it from the 1988 Mac Tools catalog.

19 3/4" H X 50 1/2" W X 23 5/8" D , shipping weight 330 LBS.
Built in AM/FM/Stereo Cassette with door mounted speakers.
Battery powered digital clock with LCD display.
Adjustable socket storage system in doors.
Pull out compartment shelf.
Built in security box.
Ball bearing slides on all drawers , etc.

They show it sitting on a Mac MB1700 16-DRAWER MOBILE STORAGE BENCH

It may not be real easy to find one of those MB1710 top boxes as they were made so long ago and being pretty unique it seems like the guys that have them want to hold onto them.

I know there was pictures of one with the doors open in the " Let's see your toolbox. " thread.
This is a huge thread ,over 100 pages long and lots of pictures are not working on it now so it may not still be there.

Good Luck !

Wander down to Lowes, and look at the box they have with a stereo in it. Then adapt your own.

You may need to travel quite a long ways to get one if you can find it.
Figure out how far your willing to go to get one and then keep watching eBay and craigslist in that radius and maybe one will eventually turn up.

Try all avenues to find one locally first.

You could contact all the local Mac tool dealers and let them know what you want as they may have some leads for you.
One of there customers may want to trade one in .
Then they could make a few bucks flipping it to you.

You could also put a " I am looking for a Mac MB1710 top box " add on craigslist and put up some pics and a description of exactly what it is with the radio etc.

Did you look through the " Let's see your toolbox. " thread for the pictures ?

You may want to post over in the tools forum and ask if anyone has one they could post pics of.
You never know, one of the members here may want to sell it or maybe know someone that does.

At least with the part # now you know what your looking for and that should help.

I've got the box you are talking about. Funny I was just going to put it up for sale on my local Craigslist. I am in Tampa, FL. I don't think shipping it is gonna be doable but hey if you want it and are willing to cover shipping let me know. I will let it go for cheap. It's pretty dirty and missing the radio components but it's in otherwise good shape and should clean up nicely. I retired from the auto body biz about 15 years ago and this has been sitting in my back room ever since. It was my main box for a while, I bought it used from the Snap-On guy for prolly around $500 at the time. If you are interested make me an offer. I can take some photos and send them as well. Thanks -Frank <><

P.S. I have lots of references on the 'net buying and selling stuff, mostly musical instruments.

The box your looking at in the you tube video is mine. I made that video in june or july 2010 as a response to someone.

Hey Frankencat,
I would love to talk to you about that MB1710 mac box. I live in alabama and could drop down to tampa and get it. E-mail me at [email protected] and let me know if you've still got it. I'm also looking for the side box which is an MB1760. Do you have one of those? Give me a hollar.
