I have a Parker 270 that needs a screw/handle assembly. The collar that's cast on the front is cracked.

So I'm looking to either acquire a replacement, or part the rest of it out. Will get some pics tomorrow.

Also looking for a swivel base for a 4 1/2" Monarch. Those were made by Prentiss, so a Prentiss base might fit.

I have some more Parker parts about. I'll get details posted...

I've been noticing lots of posts of people finding vises with broken or missing parts. I've been meaning to start a thread, so here it is.

Need a part?
Got some parts?

Vise parts are kind of hard to keep around since they are hard to catagorize. I might have a Parker handle but I don't know what Model Parkers it fits. I know a Mercury vise handle will fit into a Morgan but then, it may not be on all Morgans. I haven't been able to find a vise to even piece out in ages. When I do find one, I will let everyone know the make and model. Good thread!!

I have an old C.Parker that works great, but has a chunk missing on the rear of the slide. I would love to find a better slide assembly. If I can figure out how to post pics, I will. It is a NO. 229, PAT. 1906 & 1910
Speaking of a Parker 270... I ran into an old farmer last week at an "estate sale". He overheard me talking about looking for an old bench vise...long story short I went to his farm yesterday. I stopped counting at over a dozen of old vises laying around in different barns! Wiltons,Parkers, Reeds, etc... It was like vintage vise heaven! One of those I believe was a Parker 270. That one has the reversable jaw, right?
Anyways, I need to save up some money and bring help because a couple were huge. He knows the value of what he has and is asking around $75 for any one I want! The old bullet Wilton was really tempting, I offered $50 and he didn't budge.

I bought a Parker 434 in nice condition except it had been dropped and about a 3" back corner of the beam cracked off. I had a friend braze on a piece and it works like new. In this photo, you can see a few grind marks around the area he brazed.

That is a nice vise autopts! I've never seen a Parker with the pipe jaws.

I have an old American scale no. 75 that had the dynamic jaw broke and welded back to the slide at some point.

I am willing to part it out if anyone has a need for any specific parts.

Jaws are 3.5", the inserts appear to be in pretty good shape. I has a rotating rear jaw, although I have been unsuccessful in getting the pin out thus far.

Let me know if you need any parts from this vise.

Anyone have a main nut for a Reed 104 vise? The one from a 104 1/2 would probably work too.

Here's the vise and the nut to show what I'm talking about. [nut pic from the web]

I've got a Rock Island 605, seen in this thread:

http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=100681

The slide is bent, I guess the slide could be bent straight again. But the main nut that the screw fits through is stripped. Otherwise, the jaws, main screw, and swivel base are in good shape for organ donation.

Spongerich - Here is a CL listing for a Parker 270 that is in okay shape. The reason that I list the link is that he only wants $15 for the vise. Problem, it won't fit in a Postal Flat Rate box. He also has another Parker for $15...229X.... He seems to be a nice fellow willing to ship...I tried but without the FRBox shipping was too high.

For $15 plus shipping...it might be worth it to complete your vise or his.

Columbian 603. Looking to replace the front (moving) side. The previous owner, instead of replacing the jaw, grinded it flat. It is usable, but I would like to replace the whole piece if not too costly...

Good idea for the thread, spongerich!

I just bought an old Wilton #4 for $30 that could use new jaw inserts. Inserts are 4" x 3/4" x 1/2" with a 2-3/8" hole spacing. I haven't had any luck finding them on the internet.

ZRX - have you tried Morgan's company for parts? They still list your model. Maybe they haven't changed the jaws. Below is the company's info from their site.

As many of you know I just picked up a 4" Monarch in need of a handle. Pretty sure 1/2" diameter is what I'm after. Anyone got an extra handle from a vise that was beyond repair?

That vise looks to be in overall good condition. I had a similiar problem with this Morgan. I had both sides milled flat and level with holes drilled to take a Wilton Jaw. it worked perfect. Just a thought.

Hello, I'm looking for the 3 little parts (pointed screw, spring, & pin) that keeps the vise handle stationary. My vise is a Parker 384, circa 1930's.

Thanks!

gravyfries - your best be might be to ask someone here to disassemble their Parker and measure the parts for you. The pointed screw is just a set screw that you can buy at a good hardware store. The spring might be sourced from the web once you have the size or locally if you live in a large city/town. The pin just has a concave end shaped to the handle countour and is flat on the other end where the spring rides. It would be cake to make with a steel rod of prober diameter. Take a rat tail file and start the concave shape. Then wrap a piece of sandpaper around your handle shaft and use it to make the final shape. Cut it to length (don't cut it first or you will play heck holding it to work against the handle) and you are done. Good Luck!

Looking for a swivel base for a Rock Island #577. The mating area is 9"-9.25" diameter. Have been told a Reed base might also fit.

I'm looking for a swivel base assembly for my 4 inch Wilton machinist vise; I'm pricing it new from a Wilton dealer and Grainger but thought I'd try here.

I have a few Parkers and new Columbian that I'd consider trading.

Does anyonw know if swivel bases for current Tradesman vises will work?

The swivel bases are the same for all the 400S, 450S & 500S and can be enterchanged onto the older 8400/9400. 101028. 9450/101033 and also 9500/101031. All the same base and ring..The handles will interchange on the 4" & the 4 1/2" except for the length but not on the 5". Another tid bit of useless information..

Hi all,

I have a Parker 2X that I got from a relative years ago. While moving, it was dropped on the floor and the little collar that pulls the jaw out was broken. Any chance someone has one? It is shown in the post made by Slip_Kid. Also, it looks like there was some sort of bushing or bearing behind that collar that was chewed up. Any info on what size, where to get, or if someone has one for sale...?

Thanks for your help,
Mike

I have a Swivel base for a Craftsman 51872 6" vise. I think it is the same as some Columbian 6" vises. If someone wants it PM me. Just pay for shipping and it is yours.
I am not going to hold on to this for long.
It came off of this vise

I'm looking for the front collar (retainer) off a #103 parker vise. The jaws are 3-3 1/2 inches. This vise is circa 1920-1930 I think

If anyone has one please let me have the dimensions as im sure multiple years are interchangable
