Here are some photos of a new project I started in my garage. My garage is only a 20x20 so space is at a premium. I have lots of woodworking tools + all the normal garage **** so I am building this workbench and trying to incoorperate as much storage into it as possible. The back is made out of 3/4inch MDF. The rest of it is 3/4 inch birch. I found a solid core birch door for $35.00 so that is what the tops will be made out of. I may add an extention with bench dogs and a vise but with work and coaching my kids baseball team, this project is going slow. I will post pics as I go.

I had a couple of hours to work on this again tonight so this is what I was able to complete. I just added a couple more dividers and cut and routed the lower shelf on the right side. The only things I have left are to cut and route the 2nd shelf on the right and add the dividers to it. Then it is securing it to the wall, adding the top and trimming it out. I will then have to put my shop back together. Things in the shop are everywhere right now!!:(

Looks good.
I'm curious though, on the right section, is there support underneath? Just from the picture, it appears as though that section might sag.

Yes, there are supports that get glued and nailed between the cubbys on the bottom. The support you see on the LT side is just there for support on the glued divider and is not nailed yet. There will be a support between each cubby over there as well. There is also a facia that gets glued and nailed on the front lower portion that supports it even more and hides the space underneath. The supports will not be added until the unit is screwed to the wall. The grade of the floor gradually goes downhill to the garage door so by doing it this way I will make sure the supports are the correct size.

2 sheets of 3/4" MDF and 4 sheets of 3/4" Birch plywood. 6'8" on the short side and 8' on the long side. 24" deep. I trimed it out with clear pine. I still have to install the power strip at the back of the long side. The little air compressor is mainly for my nail guns. I have a larger compressor for everything else. It's on the other side of the garage. I will take more photos when I get everything organized. The bins are the dimension of rubbermaid storage bins so the bottom sections will be mostly those. The center bins are for routers, nail guns, jig saws...etc.

I am most likely going to make cabinet doors for the bottom bins but I'm a little short on time right now. I coach my sons baseball team and it is AMAZING how much time that ***** up!!!!!!! I think I'll wait until winter to add on to this thing.

That might be cool, or maybe have a couple of drops that come out to the front under the countertop...

:bounce:

I originally had drawn up a flip down extention for the entire long side of the cabinet but 1/2 way through the project I just wanted to get it done. Ever been there? Maybe later.

Ha- I'm there all the time! I have about 50 projects ongoing at my house, and I would like to "just get them done" on every last one.

:D

Looks good, though- don't let my suggestion read as "man, you **** if you don't do _____" as that's not what I intended.
