OK, so after some thoughts and ideas, I have finally had enough. I am reclaiming, or I guess claiming my garage. Here it is from the 2 Car Garage Gallery.

Then I saw these pictures a couple of posts later and I had an idea.

I was going to do this very same thing. Bought the wood, measured everything out and then.....
I go up into the attic only to discover the trusses didn't run in the right direction to allow me to build the overhead storage areas like that. But! I looked over the open garage door and decided I could use the truss run there to build a suspended shelf area. There's nearly 3 feet of open unused area above the garage door. It's perfect for all those Holiday decorations and other light weight containers I have stacked and strewn all over the garage. SO I took the wood, added some metal hangers to them and built this.
I used 4inch screws to mount the brackets through the ceiling and into the trusses the used 2x4 and 2x6 center to hold the frame. Then covered with MDS board rough side up. I'll paint it white to blend in with the rest of the garage and start emptying out my garage this week.
Next project:
Workbenches.
