Thanks to everyone for all the compliments. It really did turn out nice. I have been wanting to make a wooden tool box for a couple of years now. I never thought it was going to be so large. I had planed on making a smaller Gerstner type box. I got all the drawer slides free (scavenged from some desks that were thew out)so they decided the size of the drawers, and the box got the size it is because of that. I also got all the 3/4 plywood the box is mostly constructed of free. The plywood was salvage from cabinets that were replaced at work. Also free was the butcher block maple top. The top is a old workbench table top from work that were replaced years ago. I kept about eight of these tops have given a few to friends and I knew eventually I would use them for something like this. The solid Oak trim and drawer fronts were free to me also. The oak was left over wood a buddy of mine bought years ago. He bought a bunch of oak and we built a large enertainment center together as a project. I use almost all of what he had left me that was leftover from that project. The most expensive thing for me on this project was the drawer pulls. they cost me around $95. The wheels cost me around $60. The green carpet drawer liner was about $30. The 2 sheets of 1/4 oak plywood for covering the back and sides was about $28. The stain and poly was around $20. I started this project before christmas and my parents asked me what I wanted. I told them I was planning on building this tool chest and would need some cash for pulls and such. I received a $200 gift card for menards as a xmas present from them. So luckily for me very little out of pocket expense for me. Thats good cause I am cheap and if I had to buy all the materials this project would still be dream. Oh if you can see my garage cabinets I got those free also a couple of years ago you got to love craigslist.

Excellent job, you are not going to keep anything that nice out in the garage are you? That box belongs in the house for sure.
