Wonder where it was made

Well my barley used rat started giving me trouble. Everything works fine, but the direction selector got real ****** last time I used it(hard to change dir.).
I was power tappin' a bunch of 10-24 holes, so it got old quick.
Here's what I found

Look a little dry??

Typical RH pawl setup

Here's the problem, usually the spring and plunger sit in a pocket in the selector shaft. This junk goes straight thru. With it being as dry as it was, the spring would "bind" on the body. (I'll get to my fix later)

The oscillator, attached thru to the air motor

The osc. shaft, you can see needle bearings down inside(also pretty dry)

Now what I did,(just some lube would have fixed it, but I had to get "fancy:p")
Lopped 40thou off the plunger, shortened the spring and added a ball

Lubed her up with this

Nice write up....and you are correct, a little lube will correct the problem without having to disassemble the ratchet head.

Thanks Chuck (Hofferwood). Wanna try any Central Pneumatic stuff?

That would be yet ANOTHER chance to be an engineer for sure. :)
