Drawer storage bins...anyone know where to get 'em?

I found the prices to be quite reasonable, although the 3" bins are quite a bit more expensive than the 1" and 2" ones. I've been very, very pleased with the 1" and 2" bins I ordered.

Schaller Corp is the manufacturer. I prefer to order via their website over their ebay store because it allows me to piece together exactly what I need.
Schaller Corp's name is on the bottom of each bin, and if you check out their about page, you'll see that they're a USA-based plastics molding company.
I did quite a bit of searching over a year ago and could not find any other company with as much variety or better prices. One option I considered was to buy up several Stanley 25-bin organizers to harvest bins from, but the Schaller bins seemed more suitable (and affordable) for drawer use. I also thought about buying up a few imported clones of the Stanley organizer, but their quality was significantly poorer.

quantum storage in miami fl makes all kinds of bins. the dealer i use is also in miami and it is called bin and storage authority

I saw someone, I think here, used bottoms cut off from 1 qt oil containers.

I just scored some Stack-on brand tool organizers-DCOG-10- they have 8 small and 2 larger compartments, 3" deep, fit my storage drawer unit perfectly.
fleet-farm has(had?) them on sale at $10.50/ea. I grabbed 4, I can use them in the drawer unit, then if I need to go, i can grab a case and load it up w/ whatever fasteners I need.
even full of smaller screws, when flipped over and shook everything stayed put. way sturdier and better a design than the stanley boxes I have.
I also use the oil jugs, antifreeze jugs, etc, cut down to 3" tall. they seem to work great, too.
the down side is that even at $10/ ea, I have a 30 drawer cabinets, so it would cost me a pretty penny to fill.( one stack-on unit fills one drawer perfectly)

That's what I do except I use square clear plastic juice bottles. I save them up, set my table saw fence for a 4.5" cut and away I go.

I have a 4-month old, and I have been cutting the Similac bottles in half. The bases are sturdy enough, and supply is very plentiful. I'll take a picture when I have a chance.

About 17 years ago I bought a 36 drawer unit. It came with some organizers like shown, and started researching getting some more. At $1 ea, didn't seem bad until I realized I needed FIFTEEN HUNDRED of them!
I use the bottoms of all sorts of things. For really small stuff, I use ice cube trays I get at garage sales for about a nickel each. For slightly larger stuff, I use frozen orange juice containers, pill bottles, other thicker more rigid bottles (vitamin bottles come in a variety of sizes). I found for larger items, rectangular containers worked great. A particular brand of diaper wipes fit perfectly, I had the entire neighborhood buying that brand! A particular brand of diswasher soap's cardboard box worked great. Another brand of washing machine's cardboard box...
The cardboard tubes bottles of my favorite scotch work well. In fact, I glue the tops on and get a container from each end. I find a bandsaw cuts them all easiest.

Years back when I worked for a living I was ordering some lista cabinets and found that the cabinet was ~$1200 and I could easily double that with dividers and labels. This storage stuff is not cheap to buy.

Yeah, the supply is very plentiful for YOU! There's no way I'm having a kid just to score some Similac bottles...
I found that site in the course of my search, but it doesn't appear they have anything like pictured above.

Haha. Well, with all the stress and lack of sleep, I've got to find perks whenever I can. A steady stream of these containers helps remind me that someday I will be able to spend hours of time in the garage once again!

Those look to be the eBay seller's photos. Right click on a photo then click on properties.
Oil and anti freeze jugs can be cut both ways.
I use them with one side cut out not only for storage but for a place to put nuts and bolts when taking things apart.
They also work for keeping stuff like chains, gloves etc. somewhat organized in the trunk.
Many food containers, like cottage cheese, can be used.
If you like them all the same and neat, check out the food storage area at the local wallyworld.

I just got a catalog from IrvanSmith.com. They have Lista brand plastic storage boxes priced from $1.11 for a 3"x3"x1" up to 6"x6"x3" for $3.36 thers other sizes in between. I'm just giving these sizes as an example.

Has anyone tried the 2" deep version of these in the HF 13 drawer cabinets? I will likely be picking up a couple of these cabinets this weekend, and would like to use one of them (or at least a few drawers of one) to store small parts in bins like these.

Another very inexpensive solution are shotgun shell boxes. Cut them off at the height desired. The square shape makes them fit nicely in a drawer compared to round containers.
I used a bunch of 2-quart juice containers. They are kind of oval shaped, not the round ones. Cut the bottoms off at a uniform height with the table saw. Actually designed the drawers around how many bins I could fit in the drawer.

That picture is from a VW dealer, I can tell by the parts numbers, almost all vw audi dealers I have been to have the same setup

if you need storage bins check out the work vans at your local salvage yard. i pick up ten to fifteen units from comcast and verizon every year and sell the racking and bins inside for 100 bucks.

I just ordered a few of each size of the 2" tall Schaller Corp bins. Waiting for them to come in. Like someone else mentioned, I like being able to order from their website to get exactly what I want and pay via paypal. I'll post up when they come in.
To the poster asking about the HF box, I measured the drawers and there isn't any reason I see why the 2" tall bins wouldn't work. I guess I'll find out soon.
