So, I've always wanted at least a two car garage. My wife and I keep waiting for a house for sale in our neighbourhood with a two car garage. Less than 10% of the houses have two car garages. We finally gave up and converted my single, 10 x 20 garage to a 2 car garage with a 4 post lift. Here are the pics:

Awesome, love the use of space. There is a house near me with a tall carport that I can picture just like yours...good work.

How much clearance do you have between the lifted car and the garage door when they're both in the raised position? Great use of space though, especially when one car is stored for a majority of the time

What space do you mean? do you mean between the subaru and the garage door? If so about a foot.

After living with it for 8 months, I've got to say, it was a great investment. Certainly, I would prefer to have a 2 car or bigger garage. However, this solution has solved 90% of my issues.

In the end, this cost me less than $4000 including mods to garage door. This was much cheaper than moving and has kept the wife happy.

Wow. Your very lucky to have the ceiling height to make this an option. I assume the Stang stays up there until sunny days.

Yeah, the mustang was never winter driven and has original paint. I rarely even park my subie outside summer or winter.

Mustang is always a work in progress....most recently, changed the rear end and a rear disc brake conversion also doing a front brake upgrade too before the good weather.

Mustang is pretty stock except for "tasteful" upgrades. I've done alot to it with respect to stabilizing the body. It's a t-top car so I've welded in subframes, strut bar and other bracing underneath. It's lowered too. Still has working AC, I beefed up the cooling system with an aluminum rad, MSD ignition and whole bunch of other little things that no one really sees.

I'm going to take it to Mosport (or Canadian Tire Motor Sports Park) this year for the annual Mustangs at Mostport. Car only has 115K.

Sweet 'Stang, steam mill; it sure brings back some great early-college memories! :)

Glad to see that your current place worked out for you in the end!

Funny you should say that.....When I was in college, I had a brand new Blue Mustang Notch.....plain jane, no AC nothing.

I'd still have it had I ordered it loaded! I really beat on that car.

steam-mill, what is it like working on your car with the lift up a bit (2'-3'). Do you have to climb over the ends of the lift to get from the front of the garage to the side of the car? Seems like it could be tight.

I am considering something like this for a 11.5' wide garage and my thought process was to get the narrowest lift that worked for the vehicle so I could get around the outside of the posts.

What are your thoughts?

looks familiar. I have a similar size garage, and have thought briefly about putting a lift in in the future. My car is still a bit of a work in progress, so I am not sure it will work.

Where abouts in Canada are you?

why do they build the garages so tall? Not that i'm complaining here... but unless it's aesthetics, it's difficult to utilize the space up top there, especially for one car garages.

Fantastic thinking there well done
Some nice bright white walls and maby lights on the walls would make it feel a lot bigger!

Can you reupload the photos? I'm considering doing the same and would love to see your setup.
Thanks!
